Chapter 35:Becoming
Today is family lunch day and if i said i am excited i would be lying shame.If anyone told me this is what married life is like ,trust me i would have passed on that.
After setting the table ,i hear a knock on my door and Stembiso shouts that he is getting it.
"Hey cousin"
I look up and Lerato is standing near me smiling.
"Uhmm hi ,ufunan lah"
Before my confused ass could get an answer Buthi Shaka enters with Stembiso laughing at whatever it is they were laughing at.
"I am here with Shaka" she says and Shaka gets close to her and kisses her cheek.
I look at them confused.
"Ohh...kay , uhmm you may sit while we wait for others"
"Siyabonga makoti"
Shaka opens the chair and Lerato sits on it chuckling.

"Mina bafo bengithi nje yabona lah wakheta kahle , uyapheka lomuntu ( i was saying brother that you chose well , she can cook)"
We all laugh at the table accept for Nomzamo and Lerato.
*Knock Knock*
I'll get it ,i say to Stembiso and stand up.
"Zandile"i say with the fakest smile on my face.
"Mnakwethu" she says , and i fake chuckle at that.
"Sorry for being late "
"No its Okay , lets go this way"
"Guys Zandile is here"
I say and Stembiso's face immediately drops.
"Wenzani lah(what are you doing here)"
"Haibo Buthi , be nice"
Nomzamp says , thats actually the first thing she has said since this lunch started ,nice to know Zandile's Presence can make her talk.
I pull a chair for Zandile avoiding Stembiso and MaStembiso's sharp looks, yabona if looks could kill this mother and son duo would have been done with me now.
I leave to dish up for her .
I take out the parcel and pour it on her spinach .
"Weh Zandile "
I startle and quickly put the parcel in my jersey pocket.
"Khaya this is not your house ,do not sneak up on me like that"
"What is that bitch doing here"
"What bitch "
"Zandile"
" don't call her a bitch"
I take her plate and pat him on his shoulder.
"Relax , uzabe ufe( you will end up dying)"
