2023 ; SEVEN YEARS BEFORE PRESENT DAY
THE TELEVISION STATIONS CHANGED CONSTANTLY FROM NEWS STATIONS TO TALK SHOWS, however the high school student stood there amongst the chaos, their limbs frozen and mind blank. Police officers occupied the law firm, the sobs of attorneys could be heard but drowned out by the blaring sirens outside the building. The footsteps of heels and boots filled the law firms halls. The girls eyes darted towards the handheld gurney that a few emergency service workers had been holding. The indent of a person covered by a cloth could be seen from underneath. She reached out towards the body but a hand had pulled her backwards to let the workers go down and do their job.
"Hey there miss, shouldn't you be in class?" The police officer who grabbed the girl's wrist said. The girl was dressed in a casual school uniform but was out during school hours. He waved a hand in front of them but got nothing but a blank stare in return. He took a minute to collect himself before speaking to them again. "Did you know her?"
"She's my older sister," The high school student spoke up with a dry throat, pulling her arm back. "She's not really... she's not really dead right?" She choked on her words. She brought up her hand towards her mouth to cover any sobs that escaped, no way i'll cry in front of a stranger, she told herself.
The officer shot her a downward glance. "You must be Y/N L/N then," He carefully tilted his head sideways to analyze the girl. They hummed, darting their eyes elsewhere so the man couldn't see her bloodshot eyes. "Hey, kid. Let's step out for a while. It's too crowded in here, it's no good for someone like you to be hanging around a crime scene." He pulled out a small pack of tissues from his pocket, handing it to the crying student.
She reached out her hand for the tissues and quickly turned her head to wipe the tears and snot. Tossing the dirty tissues in the nearest trash can, she obliged to the officers wishes and turned to leave with him escorting them. They stepped in the elevator and through all 4 floors it went through, it was silent.
"There's a bakery around here, do you want something to eat?" He asked with a soft smile grazing his face. He was quite tall, roughly maybe 180 centimetres. His hair disheveled but he didn't seem like a "dirty" kind of person. The slight scent of detergent had lingered on him, which was comforting in a way.
Humming a soft "Mhm," she accompanied the officer towards the quaint bakery a block from the firm. However outside was more chaotic than inside the building. News anchors setting up as passerby's crowded the perimeter of bright yellow tape to see what was going on. Deafening police sounds drowned the area. There was no ambulance in sight, if there was it had probably left without its sirens on. He sighed, taking off his police coat and draping it over the senior student so no cameras had caught her face at the firm.
