Chapter 2

Alice's POV
I am 183 years old today, in human years but only 23 in vampire years. I don't know why I bother counting at this point but my family and friends still like to celebrate birthdays like we won't have an infinite amount. Finally today was the day I was off to the academy. I was excited, this was going to be something new in my life rather than day to day boring affairs. I jumped out of bed and walked to the bathroom, a pale white face looked back at me in the mirror, my long black hair messy and tangled, usually it would come down to my mid back. I was tall as well like all vampires, being 6'8 had its advantages like being able to reach all the top shelves. I jumped in the shower and set it to my preferred temperature, scalding hot. I enjoyed the feeling of the burning sensation over my body. It was relaxing and my favourite way to start the day. Getting out I got dry and put on my casual and comfortable clothes, including jeans, a long sleeved plain t-shirt and leather jacket that I never left home without. I walked through to the kitchen to see Mum cooking breakfast and my Dad reading the newspaper. I still don't understand his fascination with it. I meant there's a TV just 5 paces from his seat. My 3 siblings were gathered round the large dining table sipping from large cups, the smell of blood was strong in the room, although that was probably because as vampires we could smell blood from a mile away. Sitting down at the table I poured myself a large glass of blood, one large cup a day was easily enough to sustain me for a day and I ate regular food on top of that even though it wasn't necessary. I just enjoyed the taste, and mum's cooking was incredible. Dylan, my older brother, downed the rest of his blood and began "so excited for your first day of school?" he asked with genuine interest. "Yeah i'm really excited, i'm guessing i will be put into a dom classification but i don't know which yet", i was fairly sure i was going to be a dom considering as i had always been the more responsible family member and the one to take charge of things in high pressure situations. "Right well I need to get my things into my car, Isabelle can you give me a hand please?", "yeah sure let me just finish breaky" she replied also downing the rest of her blood and i did the same. "I'll come lend a hand as well as see how i wont be seeing you for a really really really really really really long time" he teased. Both Isabell and Dylan were taller than me with Isabell being 6'10 and Dylan being 7' 2. It didn't take us long to put my 2 bags and 3 boxes of belongings into my car which was a toyota land cruiser 200 series that had been refurbished, it was my pride and joy and no way was i leaving it behind. Jumping into the car I waved goodbye and told them I would be back in the holidays. The drive was about 8 hours and it was dark by the time I got there. Luckily being a vampire I could go a few days without sleep or rest and be fine. I walked into the front office and went up to the receptionist "good evening i was wondering where the dorms are please and could i get my schedule as well?", "yes of course miss vanderhyde" she said handing my schedule to me, she would have known who i was as my aunt and uncle are the combined heads of government and i had been on the news a few times with them. The receptionist then handed me a map and circled a set of buildings "these are your dorms, the classification test that you took before coming showed that you are a Mommy dom, congratulations, so you will be staying in the same dorms as the other mommy and daddy doms". I was happy with my classification, it's the one i think i wanted the most, not having the desire to inflict pain on a sub for mine or their pleasure and a pet mistress just didn't seem like my cup of tea. I walked back out to my car and grabbed the 2 bags and managed 2 boxes, i took them into them highlighted dorms on my map and found my room, number 208 i unlocked the door to be greeted with a beautiful contemporary and spacious apartment which had 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, a lounge opposite the kitchen the that was a marble top island in the middle with all the necessary cooking appliances needed, including a gas stove, microwave, blender and other useful appliances. I put my things into the master bedroom and went back for the final box. Getting back to my car i saw i bus pull in across the road only one very small child got off, it was 1:30 at night what was a child doing alone on a bus, they walked unsteadily to the bench at the bus stop and laid down, curious as to why there was a child that seemed to be trying to sleep at a bus stop, I began walking over until i was just on the other side of the road. "Hey there little one" I called out, startling the small boy who looked up at me with a frightened expression. "Hey, what are you doing out here by yourself? Where are your parents?" All I got in reply was a terrified look. I began to cross the road but i spooked him and he got up and ran leaving his 2 bags behind, he ran fast, but i was faster being a vampire, he rounded a corner just as i was about to catch him, he then quickly darted across the road narrowly missing the oncoming cars, which meant i couldn't follow i tried to see over the top of the cars where he had gone but he had disappeared, hopefully to go home. I wandered back to the bus stop where he had left his bags and carried them over to the academy thinking when he comes back for them the academy would probably be the first place his parents would look after the bus stop, i handed the bags over to the receptionist, recounting the encounter i just had and left the bags with her. I went back to my car and got the last box. Heading back to the dorm all I could think about was how terrified that boy was, I hope he got home safely.
