'She's a vixen'

I looked at my housekeeper, twirling the pen in my hand, making sure I stare into her eyes.

She looked at my hand, picking interest in the pen, or just the action of my hands.

"Do you like the pen?"

"No sir."
She shook her head strongly, dreading me.

"So why do you want to quit."

She cleared her throat and met my eyes.

"My mother is sick and bedridden."

"You can take some days off."

I really liked her. She was so far the best housekeeper I've had. In her middle forties and know so much about keeping your privacy.

She keeps to time too, never disturbs till she's called.

"No, I think it's time I stay with my family."
She looked down tiredly, suddenly looking haggard.

I wondered if I overworked her.

"I will talk to the agency to send someone else."

I decided to respect whatever decision she made.

"Meet my secretary and sign some papers."

I leaned closer to her.

"Remember you tell no soul about me, you know very well about the consequences."

"Yes I do."

She nodded and got up, seemingly in a hurry to leave my presence.

"Wait, did my family cause you trouble?"

Why was I asking this now?

I'm just thinking maybe they gave her a hard time.

"Nothing of sort boss."
She laughed nervously and when I didn't seem to follow she pretended not to laugh.

"You can go."

I leaned back into my seat and watched her leave my office.

The first one to leave before her contract was over. Longest serving, most obedient, selfless housekeeper I've ever had.

"Come in."
I spoke into the speaker and moments later Andrade walked in, he's my right hand man.

"Did you check it?"

"Her mother is really sick."

I nodded and picked up my phone that was vibrating on the table.

"Boss, shipments arrived safely."

The moment I placed my phone against my ear, the voice erupted loudly.
