Hailee's P.O.V

I watched as Alfred led jake out into the lobby. The security had gotten wind of what happened and escorted the man out. He was still kicking and scream but luckily no one was around to see the event take place. I watched from one of the second floor balcony's looking over the lobby waiting for Alfred to return. I could of just ran for my life right there and then, but my feet were stuck on the floor like cement.

Just as I thought my anxiety was finally in the clear this had to happen. I was doing fine. I just got out of my orientation and was looking forward to starting my day but now it's back up causing my heart to skip a billion beats per minute.

"Shall we" he gestures me to lead the way back to y/n's office. Honestly I don't think I remember where it was.

"About that. I am suppose to go down to the lab room and--"

"Hailee, don't take this the wrong way but you're only an intern. Not to mention you're in a field with a lot of egoistical men who think because they are computer science experts they know everything. With you being just an intern you wont see a project in your hands" he explains kindly. letting out a sigh he rests his forearms on the rail of the balcony and looks forwards. The lobby, despite its emptiness of employees it still felt lively. "Take that guy Jake for example. As soon as he finds out his new boss is a female who is extremely young he thinks she is no good" He scoffs.

"I mean, she is only 21. I just graduated with a masters degree in computer engineering and business. What kind of education does y/n have" I asked. I didn't want to come off as cocky or arrogant but I came here to do super awesome projects not babysit a Kid C.E.O.

"Y/n maybe young, but she is smarter than she appears to be. Since she was a child she was taught the difference of birds. Which bird was a jay, which was a sparrow. Which is a crow and which is a raven. Now, she can no longer see the bird or hear them sing" he shook his head.

I thought about it for a moment, trying to understand what he meant. He seemed like the old and wise, metaphors type of grandpa. Giving life lessons any chance he could get. If his white beard was long enough he could pass for a wizard. I didn't know how to respond to him so I just stayed quiet giving him a simple nod.

"Hailee, how about I make you a deal?" he turns to me, a soft smile appearing on his face.

"What kind of deal?" I asked, raising a brow.

"I personally know that y/n will listen to anything I say. I have worked for her for many years and she has grown to trust me. If you can be her assistant until the charity gala at the end of the month, i will tell y/n to make you a full time researcher" he says.

"The end of the month thats in 2 weeks" I tell him looking at my phone.

"I will find y/n a new assistant, until then you have to work with her. However i'm not one to force you. You are free to decline the offer" Alfred gave me a tight lip smile.

Okay, time out. Let's think about this for a minute. One, I can be an intern and do what exactly, get coffee for some next level Jakes, wondering when they would let me hop on a project. Or and just hear me out, be y/n assistant for 2 weeks befriend her and someone gets her to give me a project. I mean Alfred's deal does sound good, but just because i'm a full time worker doesn't mean I will get treated equally.

I brought my fingers to my chin stroking my imaginary beard. Befriend y/n, or stay an intern. Decisions, decisions, what to do?

"Well Ms. hailee?"
