The Marauders: A Harry Potter Prequel

Chapter 1: James

James was excited to say the least, he was going into his fifth year at Hogwarts, he got to see his friends again and best of all he got so see Lily, even though she paid no attention to him and rolled her eyes when he would talk but James didn't care, she was just perfect to him, she was strong, smart, James could go on for hours just talking about her. James never understood how she and Sirius got along so well, she would wave to him in the hallways and they would hang out together when she wasn't busy with Snape, James and the other Marauders (as well as Lily's other friends) never understood why she was friends with him.

James said goodbye to his parents and hopped on the train running into Marline on the way to the Marauders normal compartment, Marline was tall (like really tall taller than Remus Tall) her bleached blonde hair was cut to be shoulder length , and she was wearing her Quidditch Jersey, "Hi James" she said "morning Marls" James said when he got to the compartment Sirius was already there his long black hair kept out of his face with his wand which he was using as a hairpin he was looking out the window he seemed to see James's reflection Sirius smiled at him, James sat down next to one of his best friends who went back to looking out the window, James got the feeling something was wrong, he didn't want to intrude on Sirius's private life, but James was still worried, he knew that Sirius had a horrible home life, his Parents were terrible, from what his parents told him, but especially from what Sirius told him. They were terrible (also from what he understood they were first cousins. ew.) James had the 'pleasure' of meeting them at the end of the previous year, they were cold and rude. James's thoughts went from bad to worse when Remus walked in he looked like he hadn't slept in days, his scars were redder than normal, he had a whole world more of them now, he was paler than normal. The only normal things about Remus were his hair still a mess (not that James could talk) and his dress sense that consisted of: collared shirts, large Jumpers and cuffed jeans, "I can't stay for long" Remus said "prefect orientation" he said after James and Sirius who looked away from the window to look at Remus looked at him confused. "Didn't I tell you that I was made a prefect?" Remus said laughing "no, I just forgot" James said, they both looked at Sirius who seemed lost in thought, James nudged him to get his attention (it worked, Sirius isn't the most fond of physical touch) "yea, I forgot too, I've just got alot on my mind recently" Sirius said, Remus sat down across from Sirius, Remus just looked at Sirius clearly racking his brain thinking about what to say. Remus got up after a few minutes "I'm sorry but I have to go," he said and gave James one of those looks that said "make sure he's OK". After Remus left Peter entered, immediately after the train started moving, "you couldn't be any later Pete, could you?" Sirius said, seeming like his normal self again. But James knew something was still wrong.
