Hello everyone, Quick note, I wrote this story years ago, when my English wasn't as good as it is today. Therefore, I am reviewing the chapters when I got time to do so. Filtering out spelling errors and rewriting parts to enhance your reading pleasure. Anyways, enjoy.
Has anyone ever felt, as if one got stuck in a loop — the daily grind? What If, the circle broke, opening the never-ending line. That is what occurred to me.
As always, I came home from work at seven Pm. The Job I have isn't easy — however, its fulfilling. As one of the few who accomplished to make it in (dream job), I have no right to complain. I was grateful to make my dream reality and do what I love for a living. Not many people can say the same. Its a shame.I yawn as I dispose of my bag in a corner, hung my coat on a peg, and made way toward the computer. "Time to relax" I stretch myself as I wait for the pc to launch Team Fortress 2. When the menu popped up, I selected my training with bots. I didn't feel like interacting with others at the moment. Some players can be insulting, not just toward new players, calling them noobs or people who rage over the mic, trying to get their point across, bragging about how much better they are than others. the list goes on and on. don't let me get started about people who bully gamer girls. Today, I wasn't going to put up with that drama. I have no intention to ruin my good mood.I sigh deeply before my eyes centered on the screen. I was surprised to see they had added attack/defend, capture the flag and even man vs. machine to the training mode. Strange. I wonder how this will work. I shrug the thought off as I allowed myself to lean back before I chose capture the flag on expert with 19 bots. The map 2fort popped up.I joined Red and chose the Engineer.Heading out of the spawn. My priority is to get my sentry and dispenser up and running. Slowly I managed to upgrade them. In the main time. I ran off to place a teleporter someplace useful. Upon my return, My level 3 sentry gun made some kills. As I hammered away to repair the damage, I checked the scoreboard. Not only did I got 34 kills, but I was on top of the list in the first few minutes. Mh. That's a bit boring. I see the A.I. is still as busted as ever. All their attempts to destroy my contraptions are in vain as they make the same mistakes. Over and over again. All of a sudden, the game started glitching. "what the hell. I was doing so great." I groan as I move closer toward the screen."What on earth is this? I have never seen any glitch, this hardcore in the game before. I watched the Blu Soldier glitch out once a bullet hit him.Can this be an exploit? No, that's not it." strange colors appeared, and pixels started to dance across the screen. It began to form a circle formation, swirling like a whirlpool. I can't make out where everything is. It's a mess that soon came into reality. Goop dripped from the monitor and moves towards the edge, or so I thought. It gathered together, attacking my arm. No matter how hard I tried to fight against it, it was too strong and yanked me into the portal it had created. I screamed at the top of my lungs as I fall within another universe. This wasn't the only reason why I was frightened. The portal was nowhere near the ground. I was falling out of the sky. Crashing down at an unnatural speed. As the powerful rush of air streams through my (h/l) (h/c) hair., I wondered if I would be able to survive this. Memories and thoughts flash before my eyes as I near the ground. "This is it. I'm done for." I hit the ground — a sharp pain blasts through my body. Before everything fades to black, faintly, I heard voices. I don't know for sure, but. I recognize them.....From somewhere, but from what or where? ?: Holly mother of joseph. What happened to her? ??: could the Blu's have attacked her?The voices faded as I blacked-out.Soldier: A better question would be why there is a woman in the middle of the battlefield.Engineer: No idea, partner. She doesn't look too good. Quick. We should take her to the Doctor.Soldier nods. With that said. He picks her up, bridal style. He rushed toward the infirmary, the Engineer followed close behind.Engineer's P.O.V./ thoughtWhat in sam's hill just happened? We heard the scream and then that loud noise. As soon as we got there, we found her, laying in the dirt. I can't help but wonder how she end up there or what even happened prior, leading up to this event. Who is she? Where did she come from? He takes another glance at her complexion.Hot damn, she is a beautiful young lady, I hope she will be alright. ____No one's pov_____Soldier and Engineer, burst through the door of the waiting room. Scout and sniper sit there. Snipers glance falls from the clock back onto the infirmary doors. "It's been ten minutes. What on earth is he doing?" the new Zealander murmurs in a low voice. Growing a little impatient as he can't stop the fresh cut in his arm from bleeding. Yet, he wasn't as bad off as Scout. The enemy sniper shot a straight arrow through his shoulder, which wasn't enough to kill him. Thus when the battle came to an end, left Jermy with it. Scout groans as he tries not to move.Soldier: Medic!! We got a wounded soldier!Soldier shouts as he storms through the halls. The Engineer closely follows. The others turned their heads towards the sound. However, their comrades disappeared into the infirmary as quickly as they came in. This left them puzzled since they weren't able to catch a glimpse of the one in Soldiers' arms.??? minutes later _____My .p.o.v_____I opened my eyes. momentums of my fall, flash before me."How the hell am I still alive? am I even still alive?" I question my sanity as I reached for my arm, ready to pinch my skin — the intense lights above blind my perception. I turn away. Nevertheless, my vision was already temporarily blurred. I take a moment to reflect upon my previous thoughts while calmly inhaling. Not long after, I regain my eyesight. It's only now that I'm able to look around the room. Half of the walls, as well as the floor, are covered with tiles. A folding screen blocks my view from the opposite side of the room. All sorts of Appliances and equipment spread over the counters and sink, and the potent scent of disinfectant fills the air. It's an infirmary. My eyes glide towards the curtain, finally acknowledging the shadows of the men present. My heart thumps as they approach. It looks like you are awake. How are you feeling, young lady? The Engineer spoke in a calm tone. I part my lips to say something, yet, nothing comes out. My mind races as I desperately try to find an explanation. Its a dream. It has to be. What are you gawking at? One of them snaps me back to reality. It's the Soldier. "I-I uhm." I stammer in an attempt to form a proper sentence. Dell gestures toward his friend to tone it down. I reckon you must be confused and perhaps scared, even. But I reassure you, it's alright. We aren't going to harm ya. He informs me with a smile. I sheepishly return the gesture as I feel the tension in my muscles slip away. Soldier looks over his shoulder.MEDIC! He shouts. Ja. I'm on my way — the german Doctor joins his colleagues, fixing his tie and vest as he did so. I told you zhat I was busy! He pushes the glasses higher upon the bride of his nose, glaring at the other. The Soldier then points towards the operation table, where I sat. as soon as our eyes met, the frown on his face replaced with a rather goofy looking smile. Oh, Fraulein. You're finally awake. He chuckles. What's going on? I blink a few times before I dare to ask.Where am I? Engineer: In the Red base.Soldier jumps.Soldier: don't you dare give her that information. She could be an infiltrator. Yes, she has to be a spy, sent by the Blu team! His eyes radiate distrust as he scans me up and down.(y/n): you think I am a spy?I was shocked to hear this. Then again, I am a stranger who so happened to land in their secret base. But I doubt a spy could disguise themselves as a woman.... right? The American rests the rocket launcher upon his shoulder, aiming it at me. I panicked as his hand got closer to the trigger.Soldier: Don't even think about making a move, sister! I know what you are. I know what you are planning, and I damn-well make sure you won't succeed-He meanders, Dell stepped before him to cease his efforts. Hepushes the weapon to the floor.Engineer: What the hell do you think you are doing?! You can't just threaten her like that.Soldier: but she-Engineer: listen, boy. If this young lady were to be a spy, there is nothing she can gain from knowing her location. Spy's go trough a decent length to gather information, but never did we see any action so rational as this one. so I don't think she is a filthy backstabber. He booms in his thick Texan accent.Rational action? What is he talking about?Soldier: I suppose you are right. Dell walks up to me.Engineer: sorry about that. Is it alright if we start over? I assure you, we don't bite.He chuckles. All of them can tell, I'm still a little tense. But Dell's heartfelt smile makes my nerves melt away once more.Engineer: so-Medic: hold up herr Engineer. Before we have a friendly chat, I should examine her further. I may have been able to tend to her physical injuries. I could not see her mental inflictions. For al we know, she might have hit her head. So let's be sure she doesn't suffer from a concussion or amnesia. Frau, please allow me to ask you a few questions, ja?he snatches a clipboard and a pen off his desk.Medic: Let's start easy. What's your name?(y/n): I don't think this is necessary, Doctor. I am fairly certain I recall everything. He looks up at me.My name is (y/n) (l/n) I'm (age) years old and come from (country). It's a pleasure to meet you. Oh and, Thank you so much for helping me.Medic: don't mention it. It's my job.He shakes it off like he doesn't care, yet Medic can't help but smile proudly at the appreciation he just received.Engineer:(y/n) what a lovely name. He shakes my hand while Medic writes the information down.(y/n): Well, thank you.Medic: is that some vhere in Europe? I'm from Germany. It's nice to see a fellow European.(if it's not, just pretend it is. or idk)(y/n): I know you are German-Soldier: Spy!!!!!He yells. This time, Dell takes the rocket launcher. Much to the Soldiers' resentment. Engineer: Calm yourself. There is no need to hurt her. Soldier: What are you talking about? She said she knew! I know what you are playing at!This was false information! There are only pure-blooded AMERICANS in this team! You are trying to distract us, clearly pretending you don't know anything about us while, in fact, you know everything! It's like that hard word I can't remember!Medic: reversed psychology.Soldier: EXACTLY!Engineer: she must have heard his accent.Soldier: wait! What did you just say?!?He's not german. Right doc? His eyes drift towards the physician.Medic: you know, zhat's just a joke right .....He laughs awkwardly, shaking the comment off as a whole.Soldier: don't make those jokes, private. I might end up killing you. They exchanged a few glances, creating an awkward silence.(y/n): anyway ..... thank you for understanding Mr.Conagher.Soldier: she even knows our names!Engineer: I never mentioned my name.Soldier: see! She knows too much!Medic shuts the man up.Medic: Zhe Blu team doesn't know our names, dummkopf. Only our team knows, which must imply she got hired and miss Pauling told her about us. The man eyes me up and down.Medic: perhaps..... mh. yes. Zhe administrator wouldn't send a new team member without sending word about their arrival. zhat's for sure.He mumbles to himself. Ludwig also seems to doubt the woman's trust. He simply smiles, putting up a facade to appear friendly. Medic: zhat leaves me to wonder. (y/n) Vhat class are you? I've never seen Such an outfit before. Ah! of course, how silly of me. You aren't wearing your uniform yet. hehehe.expect her to lie but to his surprise, she replies honest.(y/n): I don't have a class.Medic: Vhat do you mean you don't have one? You are required to have a class.(y/n): No, this is a misunderstanding. I'm not hired by Mann.co or Red or anything for that matter. The air shifts. I can feel the men looking down upon my small figure, judging me.Engineer: Who are you exactly?Soldier: Explain how you know all this. And how found yourself in the middle of a battlefield, between two well-hidden, secret bases in the middle of nowhere, unconscious. His voice almost sounds treating. (y/n): There is no need for violence. I gladly tell you all about your success and where I know you all from.My grin put the mercenaries off guard.(y/n): The reason I know you is because of a video game. As for how I got here, I was playing said game only to be sucked into a portal my computer created and boom! Next thing I know, I fell from the heavens and blacked-out.I laughed a bit uncomfortable at the men before me.(y/n): I know that sounds mental. Please don't put me in a straightjacket. I am not insane. I swear.Medic can't help but laugh.Medic: either you hit your head really hard, or you have a vivid imagination. Falling from zhe sky. Hilarious.Engineer: she isn't delusional. It's true. I saw it.soldier: what, you did?Engineer: yeah, I was in my workshop, making modifications for the teleporter. When I went outside to perform a test, I saw a strange formation in the clouds. It looked like a portal made of swirling pixels. Something fell out, and not long after, I heard the scream. When I rushed over, I found her Unconscious. The most unusual thing is that the portal disappeared not long after she had hit the ground.Medic frowns upon hearing this.Medic: unbelievable. Do you zhink Merasmus could be behind zhis?Engineer: who knows. (y/n): I think he wouldn't be able to manipulate a game. Nor make a portal to another dimension.Medic: speaking of which, you keep talking about this, yet, I never heard of a video game before.(y/n): you do not know what videogames are? uhh......wait in what year are we again?Engineer:1972(y/n):1972!?My eyes widen.Soldier: why are you so shocked? (y/n): I come from (present time). God, you guys still have those phones with a cable attached to it. It takes a while before a handheld phone will be invented. Where I'm from, we all have smartphones!Engineer: what is that?(y/n): it's a mobile phone with a touch screen. Engineer: What's that supposed to be? He raises an eyebrow. Thus do the others as I reach in my pockets. (y/n): This is one of many examples. A (Brand) (color) smartphone rests in my palm.(y/n): you see how flat it is? There are no buttons because there is no need for them anymore. At least for the most part. There are a few on the bottom and on the sides. However, if you want to select something. You simply touch it. I demonstrate it.Engineer: that's clever! How is that device put together? May I take a look at it?The Texan exclaims in enthusiasm. (y/n): Promise me you will return it in its original state. Engineer: I only want to see how it works. As much as I would love to deconstruct it, I will do no such thing. He takes the device from my hands as he starts to inspect it, accidentally pressing the power button. The screen goes black.Engineer: did I break it?!He said in a near panic.(y/n): There is no reason to panic. You have accidentally pressed a button, wait I need to unlock the lock screen first. I enter the password and show the Engineer a few features while medic and soldier distance themselves.Soldier: do you think she tells the truth?Medic: well for a second I wasn't sure. but she could have lied about being hired, yet she didn't.and as strange as it may be, I believe herr Conagher. Perhaps she is a time traveler, after all. zhat touch screen zhingy is prove enough. He peeps at the phone.Soldier: What should we do?Medic: No idea, but ve cannot just send her away. If anything. She needs our help. zhere has to be a way to send her back to her time period. The Medic looked at the Soldier.Soldier: oh, no. I know what you're thinking. I do not want her here in the base. No women are allowed in this army! He said, his voice as stern as could be.Medic: but you understand zhe danger she will be in if we send her off. If zhe Blue team notices her leave zhe base, zhey might attack her. Besides, she has nowhere else to go. and what if she changes something in our time? she might create a paradox or a time loop. Soldier: a what now?medic: she could destroy zhe universe, Soldier. or make us experiance zhe same day, over and over. Time will not move forward.Soldier: she is out to destroy our universe?!Medic: no. she can do it unintentionally. she would gain nothing from doing it on purpose. Soldier pounders for a moment. His glance fell on me. I gladly engage in dells conversation as he looks at the screen.Medic: Herr Soldier?Soldier snaps out of his trance and turns his face the Doctor.Soldier: You're right, she can stay here for a while. That doesn't mean I trust her. Neither should you. Don't tell her to much. She can still be a spy but from the future. He whispered. Medic rolls his eyes.Engineer: you can call anyone, whenever and wherever? (y/n): that's correct. As long as this baby is charged, you can.Engineer: how come it doesn't need an antenna to work?(y/n): as for the antenna, It's already built inside the device, the mobile phone sends signals to a nearby transmission tower. Transferring the signal to another tower, into the second device.Engineer: fascinating.Engineers' eyes sparkle in curiosity behind his tinted goggles. He is determined to learn as much as he can.Soldier: enough, chitchat. We'll show you your room.He said as he arched over my figure. The helmet prevents him from making eye contact. Yet, I can sense his orbs drilled upon me. I can't help but tense up as he appears to lean in closer, making me feel so small. Then It hit me. (y/n): A-are you going to lock me up?Medic: mein god, vhere did you got zhat idea from?! Nein, Fraulein don't be afraid, ve won't harm you. you will stay here until we have found a way to get you back to zhe year (present time)I was relieved to hear that. I knew Medic is fond of experimenting with people and everything that is inside of them. Being imprisoned here could mean I would become the Doctor's guinea pig.Soldier: Do you know how to shoot a gun, newbie?(y/n): well...Engineer: Soldier don't not tell me you- ....Soldier: she will love to murder them.(y/n): ...... It only took the horrific image to deprive my face of its color. I killed the opposite team, in-game without a care in the world. It upgraded to real life. There is no way, I can't just pull the trigger on a real person. Staring into their eyes while I take their life. then again, Is it really murder when they respawn?Engineer: we can't let her fight.Medic: First of all, she should have a choice in zhe matter. Second, she certainly can't fight vith zhat wound on her leg.The Doctor scolds the Soldier.(y/n): I do not even know if I can respawn when I die.Engineer: I don't think that's possible. If you are no employe, you're not registered in the spawning system.(y/n): I also never held a real gun before.Soldier: great, you can not even defend yourself. What if you are faced with an enemy, then what?He mumbles. Dell sighs in frustration, which he doesn't aspire to reveal.Engineer: How about we discuss this later, fella's. Let's get (y/n) settled in and introduce her to the rest.He pets soldiers shoulder. He tenses up at the sudden touch. He nods in response, although he didn't seem keen on the idea as a whole. With his eyes concealed underneath his helmet, it was hard to read the expression on his face. If only I could tell what he was contemplating at this moment. I query as pain rushes trough bones and muscles I never knew I possessed. A sharp cry escapes my lips. Medic gently presses a hand against my back, supporting my body as I sat up.Medic: Careful Fraulein. Don't force yourself, it will only make zhings worse.(y/n): uhm, Doc, I don't want to order you around, on the contrary. but, Isn't this fixable with one of the medic-guns?I hissed, hearing the pain in my voice, Medic sadly shook his head.Medic: I have tried to do so. For some reason, It didn't react at all! My first assumption, a broken gun. I tested It on Soldier, and it operated as it should. I also tried zhe others on you, no result zhere either. I am afraid you have to heal on your own this time. I'm sorry. I will try to fix zhis as soon as I am able.(y/n): It's not your fault. I appreciate the effort, though.I smile at him, soon to be faded as I bit my lip, holding back a grunt.Medic: I will get you some pain killers. The man walks over to his medicine cabinet, taking a bottle of pills out, handing me one of them, and a glass of water. I gulped it down, thanking the Medic once more before he and Engineer, wrapped their arms around my middle. Lending their support as we head down the hallway toward the living room. -The other men are occupied with their own business. Pyro watches the flames dance in the fireplace. Heavy and Demoman lay cards down at the table, playing poker while Spy reads a book — smoke puffing from his cigarette while Scout and sniper watch T.V. Heavy: Medic, who is this little girl? the Russian giant booms as he looks up, taking the other's attention.Soldier: This is um ....... what was your name again .... oh yes (y/n).She stays here for a while. Some of the guys exchange glances.Engineer: Well, this is the team. You must already know them due to the game. For formalities sake, let's get this out of the way.Soldier: That's Scout.Jeremy jumps to his feet, sprinting towards the Soldier. He leans on his friend's shoulder as he pulls the finger guns out.Scout: yo, girl, what's up?He Winked at me. Scout feels soldiers eyes burn into his back. Jeremy could tell, his friend wasn't particularly pleased with his actions. The Soldier glares, with eyes so despicable, Scout could have perpetrated the most disgustful crime on the globe. At last, the younger boy didn't acknowledge the other's displeasure. He yelps at the push he receives. Scout tumbles backwards, nearly tripping over his own feet.Scout: What the hell, man?!He shouts, glaring back at the taller man — his cheeks burning red from embarrassment, earning a chuckle from the Soldier. Spy, can't help but roll his eyes at the sad display. How could he not? his hand rubs circles on his temples as his eyes flicker back to his book. Thank god, it stopped as soon as it started. The poor woman barely entered the room and already became subject to scouts flirtatious efforts.Jeremy seems annoyed when he doesn't receive soldiers attention. Sniper quickly steps in, closing the space in between the mercenaries.Sniper; It's an honour to meet you, Shella he grabbed the front of his hat and nods politely.Sniper: that mysterious man in the back, That's Spy.Spy; bonjour(hello) nice to meet you, mademoiselle (miss)He smiles politely, looking up from the page. I wave at him.Soldier: Heavy, Demoman. Say hello.Heavy: Hi there, little girl.Demoman: ey, Lass! You can call me Demo. The Scottish man shows off his teeth in a drunken but playful grin. He holds a bottle of scrumpy up.Demoman: care for a drink?(y/n): No, thank you.Soldier: and of course we got Medic and Engineer here.Medic: I am zhe Medic, nice to meet you Fraulein.his lips curl up in a cheesy grin.Engineer: You can call me engie or Dell if that is easier for you.Soldier: I'm Soldier and-Pyro walks over, holding onto a pink flower as he does so. He mumbles something as he holds his hands out.(Y/n): for me?He nods. I feel my cheeks heat up. I can't help but feel flattered and accept his gift with a smile. I bring the flower up to my face, only to take a whiff. My nose gets filled with a sweet smell, reminding me of a garden I visited a long time ago. (y/n): Thank you so much. that's kind.I smiled at him. Pyro claps as he mumbles in a happy tone.Soldier: and this is pyroSpy appears besides the group.Spy: I don't want to be rude. But what's the reason for her stay? Are you going to work with us?The Frenchman tiltes his eyebrow in a curious expression.Engineer: No, It's kind of a long story. You did see those strange clouds outside this afternoon, right? Soldier was in my workshop, I made a modification for a rocket launcher, ready to be tested. When we went outside, we saw a strange formation form in the clouds. We saw something fall and not long after we heard a scream. We rushed over, and there she was. Unconscious on the battlefield.-Scout and Demoman burst out in laughter. The rest of the men stare at Dell in disbelief, knowing this had to be a joke.Demoman; hahaha!! I think you've had more alcohol in your system than me, ladd.Scout; haha yeah good joke hard hat. If that's true, I'm the president of America!Soldier, Engineer, Medic, and I didn't seem too pleased with their laughter. We remained silent. Soldier: IT IS TRUE MAGGOTS!! AND IF YOU DON"T BELIEVE IT THEN LOOK AT THIS!The Soldier yells in anger. He snatches the smartphone from my pocket only to show it around. everyone's facial expression turned into a mixture of both shock and confusion.Soldier: How does this thing work (y/n)? (y/n): hand it over.upon return, I unlocked it and showed it around.Spy; What can you do with zhat tiny device?(y/n): Almost anything you want .play games take pictures, make videos .listen to music make calls, and more. It's complicated. Don't ask about the science of it. I didn't build, nor code it.Scout; I still cannot believe this Engineer: but you'll have to soldier: Why else do you think we want to keep her in the base? Scout; uhm .......uhnnscout paused for a secondI jumped a little when I suddenly heard a loud thud. I turned in the direction where the sound came from. Demoman was lying on the ground, his face flat against the floor-boards.he was mumbling something unintelligible.sniper: don't worry about it that happens more often in a day.(y/n): he drinks a lot of alcohol, I know.Spy; how do you know?(y/n): I know you from the video game team fortress 2Heavy: No idea what that is.heavy said qilst shaking his head.(y/n): it is something from the future, it is a long story. I'll explain it later.Medic: Don't you zhink you need to rest Fraulein?(y/n): yeah, that might be a good ideaengineer: come let's get you to your room.We walk through a long hallway with rooms. on each door was a nametag of each team member.Besides Engineer and on the opposite of Medic's there was a free one.Soldier: you can sleep hereHe opens the door and walked in.Engineer and Medic helped me to sit down on the bed.(y/n): Thanks for the hospitality Engineer: no problem. If there is anything you need, you can come to me I got the room next to you, ok?(y/n): ok, thanks. The three men left the room, the Medic last. He closed the door behind him .now that I was left alone. I took a moment to go over everything that had occurred to me. This day just doesn't feel real. I sight deeply ere I look around, Inspecting the room. The room itself was quite large, appearing more spacious as it was mostly empty. There is a wardrobe, a desk with a chair and last, the bed and its nightstand. The walls painted in a beige, complemented with a horizontal Red stripe, representing the teams colour. It's a very basic room. There is no personality in it. Not that I mind, I have nothing to complain about. After all, the team is so kind to take me in.I settle on the bed. The thought drifts through my mind as I get accustomed to my scrounging, drifting to sleep.(Time skip)Later that evening, before Engineer went to his room, he softly opened the door and checked if I was sleeping, he walked in and put a glass of water on my nightstand.Engineer: Sweet dreams. He whispered when he walked out again.Soldier stood at the doorframe of his room. His arms crossed over one another, he saw Engineer come out. closing the door behind him.Soldier: is she sleeping?Engineer: yupSoldier it was a good decision that you keep her hereBelow that frowning face of yours is a righteous heartSoldier said nothing to that and just got into his room.Engineer smiled, and did the same.Hello everyone, Quick note, I wrote this story years ago, when my English wasn't as good as it is today. His arms crossed over one another, he saw Engineer come out. closing the door behind him.Soldier: is she sleeping?Engineer: yupSoldier it was a good decision that you keep her hereBelow that frowning face of yours is a righteous heartSoldier said nothing to that and just got into his room.Engineer smiled, and did the same.
