I woke up the next morning feeling at peace. There was nothing I loved more then waking up in Steven's arms. Our next tour city was Santa Monica, California and we had five days to get there. The trip from Detroit to Santa Monica was thirty-two hours long, but we weren't planning on driving all the way through. Luckily, today was the band's day off, and Steven and I would get to spend some time together. I wanted to start the day off right, so I got up and started to make Steven breakfast.
I went to our hotel room fridge and started to whip up some eggs, sunny side up. I also grabbed the bacon and began to fry it up on the stove. I popped some bread in the toaster and poured a glass of orange juice. I plated it all and made my way back to the bedroom. I set the food on the nightstand and slide my way into Steven's arms.
"Well, Good Morning, baby." he said with an adorably sleepy smile on his face.
"You mean good afternoon?" I asked him. It was 2 o'clock after all. "I brought you breakfast" I smiled, leaning over to grab the plate of food. I grabbed a piece of bacon and put it in between Steven's big lips.
"What do you want to do today?" he asked me. He shoveled his breakfast into his mouth.
I had no idea what I wanted to do today, and I knew we didn't have much money. "Why don't we go to a bar or something with the guys. I'm sure they would love to let loose." I said.
"Sounds good to me." said Steven, sopping up the egg yolk with his toast. I jumped out of the bed, nearly knocking Steven's orange juice off the nightstand.
"Be right back!" I told him.
I made my way to the front door and across the hallway. I knocked on Joe and Elyssa's door. Joe answered.
"Janie! Come in here! I have to talk to you about something!" he said.
I walked in and sat down on the couch. "Where's Elyssa?" I asked him.
"She's visiting a friend in Farmington, that's why I wanted to ask you a favor." he got really serious. I was worried what he was about to say.
I cut him off. "Hold on. Let me go get Steven."
I went back to the room where Steven was sitting on the couch in nothing but a pair of jeans, smoking a cigarette.
"Come on, Joe needs to talk to us about something serious." I told him.
Steven got up and I grabbed his hand, following him close behind across the hall to Joe's room. Steven walked in without knocking. Joe was sitting on the couch watching the Three Stooges. When he saw us coming, he shut the TV off.
"What's up dude?" asked Steven.
Joe looked nervous. "I have to tell you guys something." he said.
"You know Elyssa and I have been dating for awhile now. She's a huge part of my life. With Tom and Terry getting married next year, Elyssa's been so into this wedding stuff. I think I want to ask her to marry me."
Steven's jaw hit the floor. I knew how he felt about Elyssa. He hated her. He felt like Elyssa stole Joe away from him and the band. They were like brothers.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that Steven has a terrible temper, and I could tell he wasn't happy. I read Steven's mind and answered before he could say anything dangerous. "I think that's great Joe. If Elyssa really makes you happy you should marry her. I just think you need to be really careful in letting her know that just because your getting married doesn't mean the band gets put on the back burner. She should know by now that the band comes first."
This calmed Steven down a little, and he kept his cool. "That's great man. You just gotta remember that the band is first priority. We have shit to do. We have songs to write and concerts to perform. We can't go around and let our women screw that up."
