It Was An Accident.

After many long minuites of staring blankly at my math assignment, the bell rang. I promise, I have never shoved my stuff into my book bag quicker. I even ignored the teacher, shouting for me to slow down because honestly, I didnt care. All that I cared about, was getting home to read the articles, and maybe posting about it on The System. The System is basically an app were you can post videos, pictures, and text on the internet.
So, there I was, sprinting out of the school, and into the streets, enclosed by buildings and a huge glass dome. I was about to race across the busy street of floating cubes when a hand grabbed my arm, I spun around, ready to swing at them before I realized is was Alica. She had green hair, in a sort of tomboyish sidetail style, and glasses. A goofy smile as well. She tended to be the one to stop me from rushing into the road.
"Ah. Alica. I like your outfit." I huffed, pausing and holding onto my bag to look at her.
She laughed, pulling out the thin braids that were against her cheeks. "and here you are thinking baggy jeans and a skin tight shirt was the way to go? Seriously?"
I looked down at myself, she had a point. I woke up five minuites before I had to leave so I threw on whatever I could find. Meanwhile, Alica was wide awake, probably at school already, dressed in a dress shirt and pants. I envied how put together she was at times. Other times, I'd perfer the extra sleep.
She linked arms with me, likely to make sure I didnt get hit by a cubical, which was a sort of transportation. Carefully, we walked along the crosswalk, which floated just over the cars. I hummed, enjoying the click of my boots against the quartz.
"Seriously, you need to start looking before you cross the platforms.. you're gonna get injured." Allica scolded, her other hand in her pocket.
'Seriously' is like her favorite word.
You might be wondering, how could a guy like me, ever meet a girl like Allica, like, she's super popular. Well, heres the answer. She saw me about to run across the platforms, and decided to do somthing. Ever since then, we had been inseprable, well except in the classrooms. No matter what, she always was there to grab my arm before I almost die, and for some reason I never expect it.
It wasnt ling before we got to my house, which is were Allica spends alot of her time. We study together, and play video games. Every now and then we'll walk out to the sports field and play soccer, or race on the tracks.
The moment we got to my room, she flopped on my bed, obviously about to go on her daily rant about how annoying Jen and Callie are, (the other popular girls at my school.)
"Can you believe that Jennifer completely dissed BrokenDreamsV5? Its the best multyplayer game on the market! And Callie tottally was about to start a food fight at lunch."
As she went on about the day, I searched for some more presentable clothes, I thought my shirt looked fine, so I just found some black jeans and hid in the closet to change. Allica was still ranting on. I could imagine her intenas moving with each word. Thats how I always knew when she was lying, her intenas would fall back into her hair. I stepped out of the closet, in fresh clothes, and laughed.
"Okay, okay, I get it. But why do you even hang out with them?" I quizzed, knealing down to grab a controller, which was more like a pocket sized glass pane without the sharp edges. I then tapped the side, and it powered on with soft blue glow. I walked over and set it beside Allica.
"Oh thank you- well its cause my parents make me. Honestly, those girls only hang out with me for my money. Like, my parents have the money. Not me." She would roll her eyes, picking up the controller.
Meanwhile, I pulled out my phone, simular to the controller and scrolled through the articles. I was right, it was a stampeed of escaped animals. I laughed a little at my guess, and kept reading, my smile slowly fading.
"Hey Al?"
"Yes?"
I inhaled sharply, "you ever notice how the guy who checks these articles for accuracy, and revises them is against Earth?"
Allica paused, staring at the distance for a moment, her lips pursed. "Thats weird- you're like the only guy who would realize that."
I nodded, continuing to read, "right before Wilcon was going to talk about ways Earth may still be habbitable. Does noone else realize this?"
Allica huffed, laying out across my lap, "Xanin. He died of an accident. You cant control animals, ya know. Expessally those cow things."
"Moo-" I chuckled, reading the rest of the article, then I opened another one. The same editer.
I frowned, and opened another article, about a completely different topic, the very same editor. I then looked through ever article I could find, countless websites, some illegal. The same editor.
"Al- dosnt something seem fishy to you?" I looked down at her, and she looked back at me.
"Look, Xan, you are looking to far into it. Accidents happen." She seemed so sure, but I still didnt trust it.
"Wanna know what, I think we should head to that farm were the so called 'cow things' escaped from."
Al raised an eyebrow, sighed, and sat up. "Fine, anything to ease your mind." Lets go.
The farm felt abandoned. It was interesting how there was no press. The false grass, almost a plastic, but healthy for the spiral cows, through evolution, had a springly feeling. I understood this was like tresspassing, but the barn door was wide open, and I just had to check it out.
The barn door was never open, infact, shackled shut twenty-four-seven.
I wandered around, Allica at my side untill I felt somthing hard beneath my foot, curiously, I moved my foot away, Allica brought her gaze to the object as well.
A metal padlock.
It was sloppily cut. I pulled out my phone and took pictures, picking it up from the grass.
"Not a murder.. eh?" I whispered, lowering the hardware back into the grass.
"Oh hush- couldve been an accident." Allica replied, pulling me from the padlock. "Lets just get back- okay-"
I then saw flashing blue and white lights from the dome, the police had seen. But how? We wernt anywhere near a person. Who wouldve called the cops?
