Theme of this project is Mermaids. So, let me tell you some magical secrets about them. Are you guys interested?
• In some cultures, the mermaid signifies life and fertility within the ocean. In others, she embodies the destructive nature of the water, luring sailors to their deaths serving as an omen for storms, unruly seas and disaster.
• Mermaids embody the sacred feminine: The concept of mermaids was likely influenced by goddesses in Greek Mythology, such as Venus, the goddess of love, and Amphitrite, the goddess of the sea. Mermaids symbolize awareness and insight: Mermaids are seen as wise and uniquely in tune with the world around them.
• To bring things further along, let's also look at the accoutrement of mermaids: namely, a comb and mirror. These items are very commonly associated with the mermaid and help bring out subtler meanings. The combs are made out of fish bone which sailors once believed could be used to predict or delay storms at sea.
