The Lord will strike you with wasting disease and with fever, inflammation and fiery heat, and with drought and with blight and with mildew. They shall pursue you until you perish. - Deuteronomy 28:22
Long ago, the term 'joyous' meant to be happy. An everyday part of life that remained even throughout every turn of evolution, until evolution turned against us. We evolved one too many and the word 'joyous' took on a whole new meaning. Nowadays people would scream, cower or even cry at the mention of that word. Evolution too took on a whole new meaning, a new terror with the coming of the new dawn. Evolution, to grow, to adapt, that's what set humanity aside from the others in the before times. It's what broke the world as we knew it and reset our universe.
We called them 'the joyous', evolved human beings that turned against us and became smiling predators. Disease and rot categorised them as our enemies. Their need for human flesh bringing a great danger to our dwindling kind and labelling anyone alive as 'survivors'.
We gained our very own version of the apocalypse, where no one is safe from the inevitable tick of the clock and death lurks just around the corner.
It is a great taboo to live so freely as we did then.
