I hold my books close to my chest as I wander the halls to the lunch room. Being bumped into made my anxiety levels higher than ever. Why did Jonathan stand up for me? Well of course he probably did do it. I feel a tap on my shoulder as I just put my hand on my locker. I completely freeze.
"Who is it?" I say slowly. Staring into my locker.
"It's me, so just calm down." It was Michael. I turn to look at him, and smile.
"Thank goodness. I thought you were Jonathan. He probably wants to beat me up." I explain.
"Why does he want to beat you up?" He says, eyes wide. "He just stood up for you and got detention again!"
"Well he wants something though. He wouldn't just do that!" I say throwing my hands in the air and then closing my locker.
"Maybe he has a crush on you." Michael says, raising his eyebrow. "He did just stand up for you, you know."
I shove him, "He does not like me, nor will he ever!"
"Well, I don't know, whatever." He says and walks away. Right there I wanted to hit him, scream and throw a temper tantrum. I didn't of course. I continue the long, lonely walk down the hall.
"Hey!" I hear thumping footsteps behind me and I turn, seeing... Collin again. A slight relief comes over me.
"Hey Collin what's up?" I question, not walking any further.
"Want to sit with the guys and me?" He asks happily.
"Sure, I'm not sitting with anyone so yeah." I reply, smiling.
"So what's up?" He says running a hand through his brown quiff styled hair. I notice a blonde streak in it.
"Nothing really. You?" I say looking up at him, my bag over my shoulder.
"Nothing. Just thinking bout regular things." He says, looking around.
"Normal things?" I say.
"Guy things."
"Like?" I stop and look up at him.
"You know, girls... Football...girls." He grins sheepishly.
"Oh, I didn't think you thought at all."
"That's cause your racist against jocks. Your a Jocksist." He replies with a straight face.
"Okay." I smile.
We walk to the cafeteria and almost out of nowhere, Tina Summit stops us in the door way. Uh oh. Tina is BAD news. I think. She is Collins ex after all.
"You replaced me that quickly? And with that?" She says, looking at me.
"Look, Tina, we are just hanging." He grins at me.
"Just hanging? Just hanging?!" She says, half yelling. "You don't just hang with a girl!"
