The shroud of darkness that characterized the night initiated its gradual retreat as the sun's great orb slowly crept over the horizon. The brilliant flower of the sky stretched its golden-orange petals in every possible direction as it restored the sky to its rich blues. The trees spread out in clusters seemed to stretch their branches even further to welcome the comforting embrace of the scattered orange-pink shades of light that graced the land, the dew coating their branches and vibrant, veiny leaves scintillating like strobe lights. Joining them in their jubilant reunion was the grass, which swayed ever so faintly in the near-undetectable breeze, and the flowers resting in various spots in the fields and in or near the trees, whose stems leaned sideways so that their polychromatic bulbs could meet the rays that provided them with life.
The first calls of the land's inhabitants filled the air as they rose from their nightly slumber. Their first stirrings were greatly publicized, their groans and roars rippling through the area and bouncing off the volcanoes further inland. Several of them ventured away from their nests to replenish themselves with water or forage for their first meal of that day, some with hatchlings depending on them for said meal.
The key that was the sun had activated the engine of nature's activities, signaling the start of a new chapter in that treasured cycle known as life.

Abornazine's eyes fluttered as the rising sun cast its light upon his scales. Its welcoming, inviting rays beckoned him to wake as his body yearned to rise and begin the new day. He attempted to adjust his eyes to the blinding light, but his deep sleep from the previous night made it more difficult than usual. He emitted a short grunt of annoyance before hoisting his head in the opposite direction of the sun.
The young Rhedosaurus rapidly blinked his eyes in hopes of adjusting them, but, before he could open them, a set of claws gently rested themselves on top of his head between his eyes. They slowly raked along his scales to the middle of his neck, stopping to return to his head and repeat the motion. He sighed in pleasure before releasing a satisfied purr, his body tingling ever so slightly in response to this heavenly sensation. Several seconds passed before the claws ceased their stroking. Abornazine felt relaxed and pleased as he slowly opened his eyes with a grin and turned leftward, knowing the identity of the claws' owner quite well.
Sure enough, Taborri was sitting on her belly and watching him with a warm smile gracing her snout. His happiness increased tenfold upon seeing her for the first time that day. Awaking to see his beloved by his side and knowing that she and their eggs were safe made him feel contented. It was a reward in itself, demonstrating that they could depend on him for protection against the never-ending dangers of their environment.
Their heads were level with one another as they peered into each other's eyes. The sun's current position in the sky made it appear as if it were right behind her, and the resulting sight stunned him. Her body became a glorious silhouette as the rays stretching across the sky seemed to radiate from her instead of the Source of All Life. He could make out her crimson orbs glowing even brighter amongst the shadowy appearance of her body and the blinding beams surrounding her contours.
The sight in front of him was truly unbelievable, for she truly looked like an angel who had descended from the Realm of the Great Spirit. She made looking beautiful seem effortless, something he believed no other female could do.
After an indeterminable, but pleasant amount of time, she spoke.
"Good morning, sleepyhead," she greeted with a light chuckle.
The male shuffled his body closer to hers and nuzzled her snout with his, which she instantly reciprocated. The soon-to-be parents unleashed a fury of purrs and groans as they relished in their affectionate display. She eventually registered his head pulling away from hers, only to feel the tip of his snout approach her earhole. His warm breath caressed her scales like a light summer breeze before a seductive growl rumbled in his throat.
