Marinette wasn't sure how she felt when she woke up. The nurses were all fawning over her as they probed and prodded things into her body, filling her with fluids and lecturing her on self care; but that didn't matter. All that mattered was that her Kitty had found her. He had found her and saved her - as always.
To hear the nurses fawning over the fact Chat Noir had brought someone in personally, gave her a sense of pride, not just because she was the lucky rescuee, but more for the fact they spoke about him with so much love and admiration, the exact way he deserved.
When she'd woken properly, she was in a white room and feeling so much better. Her body finally stopped screaming at her in response to the delicious fluid they had injected into her veins, she couldn't help but wonder when she'd last had a drink and with all the crying over the past couple of days, she must have been as dry as a bone.
Then Adrien had walked in, and the shock just didn't come. Seeing him, her husband, her first love, was something else, but it wasn't a gut wrenching shock or a feeling of betrayal from not knowing, it just felt good. Really good.
After all these years dreaming of Adrien Agreste, she had no idea that she actually had him, right from the start. He was right there the whole time. She marvelled at how he looked so worried... for her! It was all so new, and wonderful, and it was perfect. Apart from the many machines restricting her to the bed and the fact that in a few months time she'd go through one of the worst pains of her life.
In that moment, the moment he smiled at her, she knew everything was going to be alright. They'd always been there for each other, always being the other's biggest cheerleader and supporter both in and out the masks. They were going to be fine.
"Hey Kitty," she couldn't stop smiling, there was no way she could ever stop smiling, not now. It was great, so, so great; until he figured out she was pregnant and fainted.
When he came too, he shuffled up beside her on the bed and she reached out, taking his hand in hers and threading her fingers through his; her wedding ring glistening under the sunken lights of the hospital room as she questioned the doctor to fill her in on what she was already certain of.
"Mr and..." he looked between the two of them, her smile widening at the awkwardness the doctor was obviously feeling, Adrien's hand trembling in hers.
"Mrs Agreste," she finished.
Adrien let out an audible gasp at her words, the whole thing caused her to giggle.
"Sorry," she said with a slight cough. "This is important, I know. I just get excited when I see my husband." She used her spare hand to tap on top of their joined ones. Oh God! She was actually going delirious.
"Mr and Mrs Agreste," the doctor continued, this time Adrien letting out a little huffed laugh; the doctor looking more and more frustrated by the minute.
Adrien used his free hand to literally wipe the smile from his mouth, "yes?" he responded, Adrien turning his head to catch Marinette and both giggling again.
A cough stopped them. Their gaze back focused on the doctor.
"It seems Mrs Agreste," another giggle left her lips, Adrien squeezing her hand in joint harmony. They were like a couple of newly dating 12 year olds.
"Yes?"
The doctor sighed, obviously exasperated by the display going on in front of him... and who could blame him.
"Mrs Agrest, you have a high level of ketones which we need to work on lowering, so I have some information here for Mr Agreste to make sure you are eating enough throughout the day to keep yourself and your baby healthy. Lots of water and fruits will help with keeping your body healthy for your baby."
