During the first five seconds of seeing Deborah, Shawn was relieved that she was alive in the back of his mind. However, this strange man was on top of her, taking her clothes off. And that terrified him. What has he done to her before I came in? He thought. He stared at her exposed chest, while she shivered in the cold. He then wondered how much strength he had left after struggling with his foot to conquer the flight of stairs with no railing support. All he wanted to do was kill this man who has been hurting his girlfriend for the past 2 hours.
Deborah was relieved to see Shawn. He had come to rescue her before this man continued to steal her sanity. But Shawn was still injured, and he would struggle to defeat this man. It's the reason she stopped fighting him, he was too strong. And she was still tied up.
But then she realized that Shawn walking into the room suddenly was a perfect distraction for her. The strange man's attention went straight to Shawn, his grip on her legs, as he was removing her shorts, loosened. She lifted her leg, close to her chest and shoved it into his chest, knocking him to the ground.
How did he get up here? The strange man thought as he stared at Shawn. His perfect moment of making love to his lover was ruined.
Shawn rushed over to him, threatening him with the broken wine bottle to his throat.
"Don't move, yuh piece a shit!" Shawn felt tough... and hoped Deborah was proud of him for pushing himself to get to her. He looked at her, almost like he felt her pain, and all he wanted to do was hold her. Shawn pulled the man's shirt over his head, still pointing the broken wine bottle at him. He used the shirt to tie his hands behind his back.
After drinking so much liquor and smoking cigars all night, he was too weak and tired to fight back. As much as how he wanted to win, he knew he lost. Shawn's strength surprised him, encouraging him to have the same strength as his lover.
The strange man watched as Shawn embraced his lover.
"Debz....You alright?" Shawn removed the cloth from her mouth, replaced it with a kiss, and untied her arms.
"I'm okay, I'm okay babe." Deborah returned the embrace, squeezing Shawn as tight as she could, while he pulled her to her feet. She pulled her shorts up, buttoned it, and took her bikini top from the ground.
The strange man watched them hug, as anger and frustration grew within him. That frustration flowed through him, and their embrace, in front of him, aroused him. He looked at them with seductive eyes, admiring Deborah from head to toe. He imagined it was him hugging her instead of Shawn. He thought of saving her from him but he was tied up. He wasn't strong enough, which made him tear down.
Deborah was filled with anger. She released Shawn, turning to the strange man as he lay on his side. She kicked him in his stomach and smiled as he groaned in pain. Shawn threw the broken wine bottle in the corner, took his shirt off, and handed it to Deborah.
"Here. Put on this." He smiled, but he gazed at the strange man. Deborah turned to Shawn, looking at him as she took the shirt. Chest, breasts still bare, she turned to look at the strange man, realizing he was staring at them. Realizing that he was crying, Deborah felt sorry for him and it made her sick. Yet all she wanted was revenge. She wanted him to pay for what he did and she wanted to be the one who does it. Guilt rushed through her then. But she didn't care. It didn't matter how good or soft her heart was. He needed to pay.
Shawn looked at her with searching eyes, until he realized what she was thinking.
"Debz... Let it go. Let's go outside to the car."
"No. Not yet. You nuh think him need fi suffer first? How yuh did feel when you walk inna the room? How you think me did feel or what he's been doing to me?" She turned to Shawn, her face filled with complete anger.
"I know it was terrifying Debz. Mi jus glad him neva rape you or kill you." He held on to her arms, wanting to hug her again, but also wanted to prevent her from hurting the strange man.
"Look at him." He gestured towards the man and Deborah turned to face him.
"A waah mad man Debz. Him probably don't even know weh him do wrong."
"Mi nuh care Shawn. And mi nah change mi mind eeda." At this point, whatever she planned to do to this man, nothing was going to stop her from doing it.
"Put on the shirt Debz." Shawn pointed to the shirt in her hand, but Deborah seemed comfortable with the chills flowing through the room from the window.
But she refused the shirt, handing it back to Shawn. He was now confused and a little frightened by her staring at the strange man. Deborah grabbed the man by the trashy, dry curls of his head, pulling him to his knees.
"Ready for some fun?" She still held his hair, forcing him to make eye contact. He smugged, almost like he wanted her to do what she was about to do. He stared at Deborah's breasts, nipples hard. She's excited, he thought. If only he knew what she was planning. He wanted to know what to expect.
