Beep! Beep! Beeep!
"Mhmm.." I slam my hand against the plastic device, before turning around and cuddling."Wake up!" A familiar voice yells, before I feel ice-cold water dumped on me.
I sit up and shriek. I tremble and shiver on my soaked sheets. I glare at my father. He grins and chuckles. "You wouldn't get up."
"You're a child trapped in an adult." I mutter, getting up.
"Baby, I'm sorry. But you can't be late on the first day." My dad apologizes. I sigh. "Right. First day of hel-" I begin but stop as my father looks at me. "I mean school." I finish, smiling. "That's what I thought." He walks out, adjusting his tie. I undress and pull over a green, peplum shirt with light wash jeans. I put my hair into a curly ponytail and head downstairs.I grab some toast with strawberry jam and head outside with my book bag. "Bye!" I scream, shutting the door after me. "Love you!" I hear my dad's distinct voice.
I climb onto the bus and head to the back.
"I heard she doesn't have a mom."
"Pretty, but lonely."I ignore the nasty remarks. I'm used to it. No biggie.
I sit down and look outside. We pass the movie theaters near my old house and I prevent myself from crying. Ever since the...incident, I've been traumatized. It's scary for a 12 year old. But now I am 16 so I brush away the thought and get off the bus and enter school.Later in the day
I'm sitting alone in lunch, as usual, until a boy sits down at my table. I gulp down my sandwich and question him. "May I help you?" "Ma...Maddie, right?" He asks. "Yeah..I'm sorry. Am I supposed to know you?" I tell him directly. "Nope. I've just seen you around. Why are you so lonely?" He says. "No friends. Why are you so snoopy?" I smile at him. "Ouch." He winces. "I'm Noah Greyson." He holds out his hand. "Maddie.." I start but get interrupted. "Coleman." He finishes me off. "Stalker." I murmur. "Loner." He says, grinning. The bell rings and I head to the last period of the day.
After six period, I walk out of school and wonder.
"How does that Noah kid know me? I just transferred." I think to myself
"Psh. Freak."
