After 15 minutes of me getting ready I go out to James' car. He is sitting there talking to a new guy at our school, I think he was asking him for directions because there was a lot of pointing going on in different directions. I walk over to his car with my hood up because of the rain and stand beside James and the boy. He flashes me a smile.
"Hi." I say politely giving him a smile in return.
"Well hello there." He said smiling again. James looked at him, then and me, then him again.
"Um Riley, this is Shane, he's new, he was just asking where the auditorium was but I have never been there in all my years at this school, maybe you would help him?" James says. I nod and go and stand beside Shane.
"So what you want to do is go to the third building, but there are a lot of hallways and twist and turns so when you get to the third building, there are four sets doors ok? So what you want to do is go to the doors that have the sentence 'Deodorant is a must.' Yes I know it's weird but if you go to the door it will lead you straight to the auditorium," I say loudly, because the rain was making it hard for me to hear. He thanks me then starts walking to the third building. When I turn around James is looking at me.
"I'm guessing you spend a lot of time in there?" I try to hide a laugh because I don't want him to think that I don't remember the kiss.
"Uh yeah I go there a lot on weekends and after school." I say looking down.
"Cool." He says standing straight up and going to the other side of his car to get in. "Ready to go?" He asks. I nod and get in the passengers side as he drives me home.
It's been ten minutes in the car with James.
Silence.
No talking no radio, just silence. He soon breaks the silence to ask me a question.
"So I've been meaning to ask you..." He starts off saying. "About early today.." He says. I sigh.
"I really do not want to talk about it right now."
"Come on Riley."
"No"
"Please I-"
"No."
"Come on-"
"Stop the car."
"Pleas- wait what?"
"I said stop the car I want to walk."
"Riley I didn't mean to make you-"
"James, if you do not stop this car right now I will jump out." I say harshly. He pulls over to the Side of the road.
"Riley please just wait. I don't want you walking home in this ok, please let me drive you." He begs and then starts to pout. I try my hardest to hide a laugh because right now I'm trying my best to be mad at him.
The rest of the way home we don't talk, except for him persuading me into tutoring him in math.
Oh, goody.
