"witness ?"

"yes ?"

"do you regret obtaining pentobarbital, an euthanasia drug, per the defendant's request ?" seo jiho questioned min bokgi.

the law students had to do a mock trial for their class to gain experience of being in a real trial. the study group was chosen to be part of the mock trial except for jiyeon. quite a bummer for her, but she didn't mind watching. she silently cheered for her friends as she watched the trial.

"i do. i wouldn't have obtained it if I knew he wanted to kill a person instead of a terminally ill dog."

jiyeon's attention went to kang sol a as she tried to discreetly fix her pajama pants under her gown. she was quite amused and tried to hold her laugh, but she couldn't stop the corners of her mouth that was lifted up by a tiny bit.

"that's all." jiho finished questioning bokgi and looked to over to sol a who was tying up her hair before she looked to over to sol b and joonhwi and answered, "counsel, cross – examine."

sol b stood emanating this cold and professional aura that jiyeon marveled at. she walked to bokgi with her back straight and confidence, and began questioning.

"witness, you're the defendant's university friend, who's running an animal clinic."

bokgi answered, "we're alumni, but he changed his major—"

"please answer yes or no."

jiyeon eyes widened at the cold response. she caught the eyes of han joonhwi who, apparently, had already been looking at her, she gave him a small smile and a wave, which he returned with a smile of his own, before turning his attention to the professor who came out of the balcony to watch the trial. she followed his line of sight and realized who it was.

it was prof. seo byungju. the man who (from what jiyeon heard from her father) made the mock trial venue in hankuk. she turned away from the professor and looked back to the trial that was ongoing.

"the defendant changed his major and is in dental school. can't he easilt get his hands on drugs such as ketamine or propofol ?" kang sol b questioned.

"objection," jiho stood up, "it's a leading question."

sol b coldly replied, "didn't you know it's allowed in cross-examination ?"

jiho looked around, clearly pissed at the fact that he knows she's right, and sat back down.
