When I jolted awake, my ears were ringing, my head was pounding and I felt like I was going to throw up.
The next few minutes went by in a haze, I was dragged out of bed and I was forced into clothes and was dragged into the community room or whatever it is that you wanted to call it.
I was forced into one of the chairs and a few of the boys sitting there looked up at me, they were playing Uno, they weren't talking, nobody was really, except for the quiet whispered "uno" that would occur every once in a while.
I was handed cards as soon as I sat down but I never actually played, the numbers were beginning to blur together and looking at them only increased the pounding in my head.
Christian kicked me in the ankle, I winced a bit and looked at him, "what's going on with you? You're pale as a ghost and you look gone to the world." he mumbled quietly.
"I just don't feel good is all, get out of my business." I responded and he looked me up and down.
"Your arm is covered in blood." He said in a monotone voice before looking back at his card and placing it triumphantly on the table.
Everyone groaned and he smiled at them then looked back at me, "look i'm not a doctor, but I do know that there's no way in hell you got that doing your chores, and I also know that you're losing a shit ton of blood right now." he talked fast and quietly, as if he was trying to tell me a secret.
I shrugged and he glared at me, he grabbed my other arm and I winced slightly but he didn't notice, or he did and chose not to say anything.
He pulled me up and dragged me over to the table that was closer to the door and grabbed another box of uno cards. He nodded to one of the boys that was at the table we were originally sitting at, the boy gave him a thumbs up and quickly stood up and ran towards the door on the other side of the room.
The guards jumped up and ran after him, Christain stood up and grabbed my free arm and shoved through the door closer to us, he started dragging me down the hallway but I stopped and peaked through the window on the door.
I saw the guard shove something down the boy's throat and the other guard pulled out a gun and shot the boy in the head. I gasped out loud and Christian sighed and started dragging me down the hallway.
"We have maybe 5 minutes before they realize we're gone and start looking." he said and dragged me into the empty "nurses" office which was full of old bandages and other weird demon type shit that I chose to ignore.
He shoved me down into a chair as I just rambled on, "That boy, did he know what was gonna happen to him?"
Christian looked at the wall for a moment before nodding, "Yeah he did, he offered to do it, we noticed the blood yesterday, but it was more faint so we didn't do anything. But when it was more noticable today he offered to, guy was sent here as soon as he was born, his parents didn't care, he stopped seeing a point in living. So yeah, he knew what was coming and he did it anyways, that's the shit that happens here."
I sat there quietly while Christian put the bandages on my arm and adjusted the sleeves of my shirt so you wouldn't be able to notice them.
We heard footsteps coming in our direction, I got up and dragged Christian over to the closet in the office and shoved him into it and climbed in as well and shut the door quickly as the door to the nurses office opened.
He slapped his hand over my mouth and I glared at him but didn't move it. After about 10 minutes the footsteps receded and I licked Christians hand and snickered.
He glared at me and I climbed out of the closet and he followed me out and flipped me off.
"I'm so proud of you for coming out of the closet Christian." I laughed and he chuckled and bowed.
"Thank you thank you." he replied and for the first time since I got here I smiled, and actually meant it and there were feelings behind it.
We slipped out of the nurses office and ran back to the community room, occasionally ducking into a nearby room until security cameras looked in a different direction or a guard was walking by.
When we got back in and slid back to the table we were at, the boy's body had been cleaned up, as well as the blood.
Me, Christian, and the other 2 boys, whose names I had discovered were Enzo and Cash, continued playing uno in silence.
After another hour we were all dragged out of the room and back to our own rooms to "sit in our thoughts" . It was all a bunch of bullshit. It was just us getting locked in tiny cabinets or somewhere for 6 hours, but in happier words.
Aiden, my "doctor", walked in my room, I saw the small outline of a needle in his pocket but pretended I didn't.
I quietly stood up as he looked me up and down, probably making sure I hadn't gotten ahold of something I shouldn't have while we were in the community room.
"We're going to be doing something a bit different today." He smiled and I looked at him. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't at all nervous.
And if you weren't, you were borderline psychopathic.
I nodded at him and he stabbed me with the needle, my vision became spotty as another person walked in the room. Aiden and the other guy grabbed me and dragged me down the hallway, I was thrown into a room I didn't recognize.
Then again that might have also had to do with the fact I could barely recognize anything at this point.
I heard a lock click and almost all of the light drained from the room, a few moments later there was the click of another door opening, and all the sudden I wasn't alone.
I felt something bite my leg and I screamed, a flash of pain shot through my body, and a second later, everything went dark.
