The only reason I write stories is that I'm running out of stories to read myself. 😪

"It is done" The woman turned the painting to show Hyeon.
After hours of work, she had finally finished the work. She needed to clear her head of everything that had occurred, the only way she knew how to do that was to fill her mind with creativity instead. "I love it, Should I hang it up in my room now?" She asked.

Catherine watched the young woman. Her smile widened while she watched Hyeon's reaction to her finished work. "Yes, you should put it there. It is not dry yet, so be careful." Hyeon nodded and leaned in to kiss the woman's cheek. "Thank you."

She left the room to go hang up the beautiful painting in her room. Catherine was left to suffer in her own thoughts. How would she live when the younger woman had left? What would she do and how would she feel? A wave of sickness rose within her stomach, she furrowed her brows and sighed.

"Is something the matter?" She jumped at the voice, not even realizing Hyeon was back. "God, you scared me." The woman breathed out, her hand rested on her heart which was rapidly beating.

"Apologies, are you alright?" She asked. The older woman patted the space beside her, Hyeon sat down and put her arm around the woman, and leaned in to hug her. Catherine smiled and snuggled up in her arms. "Mhmm, just worrying about things, the usual."

"Worrying so much can not possibly be healthy."

Catherine stared into the dark eyes of the woman beside her, they comforted her. "You are right, but I cannot help it." She sighed. Their hands intervened and a moment of silence fell upon them.

"What is it that you are worried about?"

"I won't discuss that. Where did you put the painting?" She asked, attempting to change the subject. Hyeon knew the woman all too well by now, she was sure Catherine purposely diverted the subject they were discussing, she also knew that the older woman was too stubborn to discuss it. "I sat it down beside my bed, I am not sure where to put it."

"I can come and find a good spot for it later tonight." Hyeon nodded.

"Anja and Em were sent back to their families. I have funded their funerals and I will attend them both tomorrow with you." Catherine said. Hyeon had not been informed of this. She had been taken by surprise.

"And what about your safety?" The younger woman asked. She had failed to protect the woman once already who knew what the resistance would do if they got their hands on her again? "I will be alright Hyeon, you and the other guards will be there for me."

"Good."

One day later and they were all ready to set out for the funeral. Using a carriage would draw too much attention so the best way to leave was to leave from the backyard of the castle. Catherine sat behind Hyeon while she rode the horse to the first funeral which was Em's.

Catherine hugged the woman from behind and smiled. She had not told Arthur where she was going for two reasons. One: He would not let her, but she would go anyway. Two: He would make a fuss of it.

Perhaps coming unannounced to the funeral was a bad idea. Her husband was the cause of their execution after all. Both families took the funding the empress had given them which she took as a somewhat good sign.

The empress jumped off the horse when they arrived at Em's funeral. Hyeon sat on the horse in the distance, she had been ordered to do so by the woman. she made sure to keep an eye on her and have her bow drawn in case someone tried anything.
