Breakfast the following day was a silent affair, primarily because of the giant hangover she was sporting. Clark and Caelum had already showered and looked as fresh as daisies, enjoying their homemade French toast with strawberry compote. Last night, while she was snuggling with Copper, she had decided she'd get up and fix the guys a nice breakfast. Even though she knew she'd regret having to wake up early, she felt she owed them after she blatantly broke one of their rules. Not that she didn't think Copper didn't deserve to be in the house. But instead of kicking her out, they had let her get away with it. She owed them for that, least of all. Not to mention they sat through her favorite movie, even if Caelum was preoccupied the whole time. She felt her body flush just thinking about what he had done to her.
She shook her head to expel those thoughts. Caelum looked at her with a question in his eyes, but she just shook her head again, causing the pain behind her eyes to worsen.
She leaned her head on her hand while she ate, fighting to keep the breakfast down. They stared at her like she was about to vomit at a moment's notice.
"Alright there, Max?" Caelum asked, a sly smile on his face. Clark cracked up beside him, and they both started laughing.
She winced from the noise and rubbed her temples. "How did I drink more than both of you last night?"
Clark shook his head. "You didn't. You just can't handle your alcohol."
She tried to glare at him, but that hurt too, so she instead closed her eyes.
The doorbell rang, and she didn't even pretend like she would answer it. Clark chuckled again as he rose from his chair. She heard the kitchen door swing open but didn't bother opening her eyes, even though she knew Caelum was staring at her.
"What's wrong, baby?" he asked, surprisingly gentle. "Is it just the hangover?"
She knew what he was talking about, but she didn't want to get into it, so she nodded, but she wanted to be honest. "Mostly. I had a hard time falling asleep last night after everything."
"Everything?" he asked.
She opened her eyes and met his intense stare. "Mostly Liam showing up."
He nodded as if he understood, but she could tell he was relieved. They'd crossed another line last night.
The side of his mouth quirked in a smile. "I'm shocked you're not freaking out over what happened between us last night."
Honestly, she was shocked too. She couldn't think about it too hard without getting embarrassed, but she couldn't deny that what happened made her feel things. Really good things.
He leaned closer to her and lowered his voice. "I want to do it again. I want to do more than that. I want to fuck your pussy while my fingers play with your ass. I want to lick you all over until you can't take it anymore." He groaned. "God, now I'm turned on."
She felt her body heating up at his words. Before she could respond, they heard raised voices from the front door. They both jumped up and took off towards the entrance.
Before they even made it to the front door, they heard a punch before Clark started yelling. "She told you to leave her the fuck alone. Now get the fuck off my mountain before I kill you!"
Max gasped, and they both stopped short, surprised to find Liam splayed out at the front entrance holding a hand over his eye. "Liam, what are you doing here again?"
He looked over at her and scrambled to his feet. "I know what you said last night, but I can't give up. I could tell by the look on your face that you're not over me. I know you're not."
