I woke up to the bus suddenly shaking me, moving my feet further and closer to the wall at the end of my bed. My heart started racing and not long after the bus seemed to come to a stop. I rolled out of the bunk I slept in onto the floor and sat up to take in my surroundings. All the bunk beds' curtains were closed except for one.
Is someone up?
I look behind me where the bathroom was.
The door is open and the light is off, so no one is in there. They must be at the front.
I stood up from the floor and made my way through to the front of the bus. To see if I can find out who is awake. On the way there I passed through the kitchen and see a plastic container with blueberry muffins in it. My stomach started growling so I took one for me.
They won't be mad, would they?? No they wouldn't, they'd understand that I am hungry. They are not like the orphanage and they've proved that to me so far.
I took one bite from the muffin and chewed it slowly. Before finishing this bite I hear people talking outside. One of them sounded like Ally and the other sounded like the bus driver.
What are they talking about?
I put the muffin down so I can get closer to hear them more clearly. I poked my head through the closed curtain between the kitchen and the front of the bus where the bus driver sits. The sun has barely came up yet, but I see no one around the front or right outside the bus from the open door. We gave stopped at a petrol station. I sit down on the steps and listen in.
"You don't know this girl though. She could be lying to you"
Do they think I'm lying to them? Why would I lie to my idols??
"I know Cassie, I know. But I just got this feeling she is telling the truth. She seems like a really nice little girl and I want to make sure she gets a life she deserves"
Wait what? What life to I deserve?
"She is a nice little girl. I just want you to be careful. We don't want you to get introuble by the police for having her with you. Even if she is an orphan. She could get taken away from you if people find out you have a missing child in your care"
I can't let the cops find me. They'll either take me back to the orphanage or worse. And the girls won't come get me because they'll believe my uncle's lies that the cops will tell them.
"You're right. I wouldn't want that. There must be a reason why she isn't staying at one. What do you think I should do"
"If you truly care for her, then the best option to take is to foster her for a while and get to know her. By then, you can be confident enough to make that choice you want to make."
"That's a great idea. Maybe I'll do that in a couple of days. I first would like to make sure she's comfortable and settled in. I don't want to rush anything"
Wait... Ally likes me? She wants to foster me?
"Fair enough. I can keep her company when you guys are out. And I'll get her everything she needs so you guys won't have to deal with paparazzi and crowds. It might overwhelm her if she has to deal with that and possible rumours that fans will make up."
"Thank you Cassie! You're amazing!"
"No problem, girly!"
A few seconds after Cassie, the bus driver, spoke, I hear footsteps coming closer to the bus door.
Crap. Crap. Crap.
My heart starts racing as I panic and quickly get up and run and quietly and as fast as I can back through the bus.
