Word count: 3717Paintbrush felt the tension in their bones drift away into the air above them. Despite today's victory and possible friendship with former enemy SilverSpoon Paintbrush was still stressed from the tension of the cartoon reveal. Painting, what a way to end a chaotic and eventful day. It seemed to be the only thing that truly eased the tallest. A smaller paintbrush clasped between their index and middle finger, a peculiar way to hold it yes but their way nonetheless. Their frustration with today's events seemed to bleed through their fingers and onto their canvas. A brilliant scarlet mixed with s soft violet, creating the scene they saw so clearly in their head. The air of the island was warm. Paintbrush could hear the nearby chirping of crickets as the sun began to set gently over the islands many hills. They slowly took their eyes off their canvas to gaze at the sunset's beauty. The scene captivated the wooden brush, so much they could feel their bristles tingle as their eyes were lit with the colors of the resting sun. In a few swift movements they were capturing this moment, mixing paint that was quickly spread across the canvas in a multitude of shapes. A soft orange mixed with a glistening yellow to create the base for this magnificent setting sun, complimented with the scarlet used earlier. Painty was in the zone, their brush storming the canvas with precise movements and gentle strokes. The crickets sang, an audience to cheer Painty on as they continued their work. The sun continued to set, barley lingering as a reference for Paintbrush, not like they needed it.
That was the thing about Paintbrush, they had a nearly photographic memory. Once they saw something they could reply in it their mind a hundred times. It was the ultimate skill for an artist, and extremely useful for Paintbrush's semi realistic style. They continued on, barley noticing the shrinking light. If it weren't for the overhanging lantern they'd set up on a tree branch just above they'd hardly be able to see! Fortunately when it comes to painting, Paintbrush always is prepared. They continued on, a smirk driving across their face as they watched their painting slowly come to life. In just a few more moments paintbrush stepped back to gaze proudly at their art in the lanterns bright glow. The painting was made up of a soft yellow field of grassy, gently tainted with the orange glow of a sunset, creating a scarlet skyscrape littered with violet clouds. It was truly phenomenal, and Paintbrush was proud.
Paintbrush sat under the tree from witch their lantern hung, letting their fingers rest. Painty pulled them one by one, popping them and releasing the tension in their bones. The painting would take some time to dry, so they'd have to stay close and keep watch to prevent any mishaps. Back at the hotel this was a bit easier. They could just lock their door and hope fan wasn't interested in messing anything up. Here there were not only contestants to look out for, but wildlife. A bug could get stuck in the paint! A bird could fly straight into the canvas and ruin everything! Though, a painting using bird feathers, an ambitious idea. Paintbrush would have to save that one for later.
Their eyes darted around, suspicious of any sound or indication of movement around. Despite their eyes becoming heavy with drowsiness they stayed alert. The sound of footsteps sounded behind them, making them jump up and gaze around.
"My my darling, it's just me." A familiar voice rang from behind them. Paintbrush sighed, gazing at SilverSpoon.
"Oh. Hey you." They sounded almost relieved. SilverSpoon was least likely to destroy anything of theirs, unless he wanted revenge for them pushing his typewriter off the desk easier. However that was doubtful, they'd made up! Right? That was worth something to Paintbrush at least.
Paintbrush got uneasy watching SilverSpoon walk towards their painting.
"Careful-!" They cautioned."Pft- haha! Don't worry dear. I'm just looking." SilverSpoon gave them that all so familiar smirk. "Hm."
