"Do you want to see the sea with me?"
Leni waited for Theresia's response. The starry skies highlighted her features, making her even ethereal to Leni's eyes.
What seemed like eternity of waiting, Theresia smiled.
"Of course I would love to."
Leni mirrored that same smile back.
Theresia's birthday came up two days later and Leni was estatic. The former watched as Leni bounced from room to room to gather whatever they need for their trip.
Apparently, Theresia found out, that Leni had prepared everything before hand and was only waiting for the right moment ask Theresia out for a trip to the beach.
"Gaga ka Leonor!" Theresia rarely use Leni's second name to address her, except on occasions where she is either annoyed or angry. And right now she was in the borderline of both. "Nagsayang ka pa talaga ng pera just for me!?"
"Ang bigat ng kamay mo." Leni said, her accent still have traces of English in it. "I did, of course! Why would I? It's your special day! And as your travel companion, it is my duty to make it extra special!"
"Travel companion?" Theresia echoed.
"Yep!" Leni proudly says. "I am Leni Gerona and I will be your personal guide and travel companion for this trip! So, no more protests Ms. Hontiveros and let's just enjoy this day together."
She is really adorable, only if she knows that. Theresia says, shaking her head fondly. "Okay, travel co— whatever it is, lead the way."
Leni grinned.
"Thank you po, Mr. and Mrs. Gerona!" Theresia says to Leni's parents after they dropped the pair off in a private and rented resort.
"No worries, Theresia! And please, Tito and Tita nalang." Leni's father said with a smile. "Mag enjoy lang kayo pero mag-iingat padin ha?"
"Oo nga, call us if anything happens ah?" Leni's mother added. "Leni, look after Theresia okay?"
"Of course, Mom." Leni smiles, looking at Theresia. "Be careful on your way home, okay? Text me once you got back."
"Mag-iingat po kayo!" Theresia waved as the car's window closed. Leni's parents gave them a warm smile before bidding good bye.
Leni gave a big wave which her parents could see on the rear view and on the side mirror as soon they pulled away from the driveway of the resort.
The five star resort and hotel was owned by a close friend of Mr. Gerona. He closed it off from the public just for Theresia and so that the two could enjoy their time together despite Leni's protest at first.
Anything for my inaanak! Best ninong kaya to! Leni could remember him saying. And when she recount that conversation to Theresia, the younger girl blushed.
The staffs of the resort greeted them, some insisted to carry their belongings to their room but they assured them it was fine and that they could handle it on their own. The pair headed to the front desk in order to get their keys to the room.
Leni and Theresia thanked the staffs and went to their room to settle down. The view they had was incredible; the beach was right in front of them and could be accessed via the veranda.
