She opened her eyes to a familiar space, it was her room. The card on the nightstand to her right stood out.
She quickly sat up to realize her back was really sore.
She mumbled out in pain as she reached for the card to her side.
She smiled at it looking upon her drawn form but also One's.
They were hugging in the picture, up above them were the words

Get Well Soon

She then opened up the card to see their drawn forms sitting together looking at the spider in the jar.

Then to the left there were words carefully written to her

Liz I am so sorry... I never meant to hurt you. You are the only one I would never mean to hurt.

She stopped reading as she raised an eyebrow.
She was puzzled trying to understand what that was supposed to mean.
Plus he rarely called her Liz, much less write it down.
He knew that it would get him in trouble with papa.

Regardless with curiosity she continued to read.
His words got a bit sloppy at the end, Zero assumed it was because he was upset.

I hope when you get better, that you will forgive me.
Knowing you I am sure you would not blame me.
After all you knew the risks of the lesson at hand and so did I.
I cannot survive this hell without you.
You are the only one I hold dear.
Everyone else here are shadows in comparison.

Sincerely, H. <3
At the end he drew them together with shadows around them to further paint that picture.

She smiled, but felt as though something was off, she just couldn't quite put her finger on it.

Then she heard the door unlock and start to open.
She swiftly placed the card under her pillow and away from prying eyes.

Papa walked into the room with a smile.
"I am so glad to see you are awake sweetheart..."
He sat next to her as he continued. Holding her hands in his.
"You were sorely missed."
She smiled and then asked "how long was I out?"
He replied "well let's see you fainted Tuesday evening, and it's currently Thursday evening."
She replied "so I was asleep all day, I guess I exerted myself too much."

He nodded "you should of told us when the migraines and weariness started. We would of put another in your place. You know never to over do it with your powers right"
She nodded "yes papa."
He stood up and held her in his arms "I am so proud of how far you've come, your mother would be too."
She looked up at him "when can I see her again?" She asked.
He shook his head with a frown as he sat back down to her level "you know that can never happen, she is not well, practically brain dead. She wouldn't even know you were there."
She furrowed her eyebrows "what did you do to her?!"
He huffed as he looked away from her "I told you, she was a drug addict."
Zero knew her father was lying, he has lied to her before.
"You lie..because of your shame!" She exclaimed.
He swiftly turned to her and yelled from the top of his lungs.
"THAT IS ENOUGH!"

He walked towards the door then said in his usual soft demeanor "we shall never discuss your mother again, she is...gone." The last word he said sounded painful for him to say. As the guilt settled into his mind.

Knowing full well it was in the name of not only Science but discovery.

He left the room as she burrowed her face into her pillow sobbing.
