Last night's storm had raged, the sound of lightning and wind had frightened the little ones, who had ended up sleeping in the same room as me, our parents being no longer of this world, I was the one who took on the role of mother and protector.
The sun gently showed the tip of its nose in the early morning, piercing the greyish clouds that still blurred the sky, I had decided to let the children with the largest of us the time to go see the possible damage caused by the storm last night, But I knew very well that some kids wouldn't listen to me and go play on the beach.
I carefully inspected our little village, looking for something to repair, of course, they had them, but I was cut in my inspection by one of the children who pulled on my dress.
"Ma'am, we found a dead man on the beach!"
He then told me with this frightening look that I loved too little, I crouched down, there were certain things that a child of their age did not need to see.
"I'm gonna go check it out, go home and eat cookies."
I would then sigh with a gentle embrace before rising up and going to the beach, it was not uncommon for ships to run aground on our shores, but they were often empty and full of beautiful things that could serve us. But it was rare for a corpse to land here.
My faithful bow ally and quiver always at my side, I approached the beach dangerously when a child's scream pushed me to run while arming my bow.
When I arrived at the beach, I saw two of the little ones from the stick camp in hand having fun poking the person lying on the fine sand.
"I'm sure he moved! I saw him, he even growled."
Then said one continued to sting him, while the other denied it.
"But no, he's dead, look, he's not moving."
I would sigh as I shot my arrow at them, as they raised their heads towards me.
"Quick, it's Mother Merry, she's going to pass us a knowledge."
The little ones cried out to the heart, before they went off in a rush.
"If I catch you, you'll see you little brats."
Had I responded by approaching to get my arrow back. This person, lying on the ground, had puncture marks on his face. I sighed exasperated, they had no notion of respect, to believe that this man was a mere animal.
I knelt down near him to look at him more closely, placing one of my hands on his neck to look for a possible pulse, I did not expect to find one, whereas his hand, it was folded on my hand, while in a last effort, he dropped a single.
"Captain."
Before he passed out.
The poor man, in addition to being soaked, dead of cold, he bore multiple wounds, this man by his build, seemed strong, muscular, but his green hair of a green that I had never seen, was covered with sand.
I decided to take him home while he was unconscious.
Once at home, all the children looked at me strangely, so they all thought that this one was going from life to death.
I laid this young man on the bed of one of the empty rooms, and began the care I could administer him, he had not moved, I took the opportunity to take off his sticky clothes to wash them and the three sabres he wore to the belt to store them in a safe place, I took the opportunity to clean it as I could, especially his hair.
Then I saw the man lying dormant, covered with a bandage, and I heard a voice that I did not know. Turning around, I saw a child, about ten years old smiling.
"Thank you for saving him..."
Had she said before she disappeared so early, is it still a whole of my imagination or is it the fruit of the devil that materialized the spirits?
It was with a smile on my face that I left the room with the young man's clothes to clean them before returning to my village activities.
