I walked out of the school behind the group of teenagers alone. It seemed to be raining. Great. All of the teens had a car or a ride home but me. My only friend, Peyton, was absent today due to some family thing. I slid my hand into my dark pocket and grabbed the skinny box called my phone and unlocked it. I pressed the call button and waited for my mom to answer.
You see, my dad disappeared when I was about 4 or 5 years old. Me and my mom lived in a small(ish) house across town. I tried to make the best of it, my mom deeply tried to make me happy and I am grateful for that!
"Your call has been forwarded to an automated voice message-"
I heard this about 14 time and finally gave up on calling her. She was probably asleep or at work. No idea.
I started walking to the nearest train station. All of the sudden I heard an old lady yelling at somthing and throwing rocks in a bush. I walked up to see what was going on.
"Ma'am, what is going on?" I said trying to sound polite
"There is a demon family in those bushes! I don't want to be cursed!!" She yelled, waving her cane towards a bush that was lining her sidewalk.
I bent down to take a look and saw a cat. A black cat.
"Ma'am I think your mistaken. These are cats-" I said turning to her but being cut off by her raspy old voice.
"Yeah! A BLACK cat!!" She yelled
I sighed and thought of only one solution. I picked the cat up carefully only to find out that she was hurt. Badly.
"W-what are you doing?!" The old woman said but I paid no mind
The cat was barely moving. I started trying to help her but I was to late.
"Miss, d-do you have a trash bag I could use?" I said knelt on the ground holding the lifeless cat's body in my arms.
"Why do you need a-"she started
"Please.." I said fighting tears.
She left and grabbed a trash bag and handed it to me
"Now get rid of it!" She yelled
I put thecat into the bag carefully and started to walk away when I heard a meow.
I looked around and saw a little black kitten in the bush where the other one was. I walked back overto the bush and picked it up. It was shivering and wet. Damn it. I put the kitten inside my jacket with its head popping out of the collar of my hoodie.
"Thank you for getting rid of thoes monsters!" The old lady said but all I could do was walk away.
I knew that there was a graveyard not far, so I went. I walked up next to a few gravestones that I put there myself. They were my past pets. I dug a small hole and put the bag in the hole carefully. I took one last look and knew that she was dead. I buried her and put a rock over it and wrote with a sharpie.
Here lies mother cat
I felt bad for the cat, only because of her fur color she's dead. I looked down and saw a purring, sleeping black kitten inside my hoodie. I kept him hidden and wrapped up so he would stay warm and started to walk to the nearest train station.
As many eyes were on me, a girl holding a lump in her shirt, I started wondering what I would do with this poor kitten.
I opened the door to my shared home with my mother and looked around. I started to tip toe to my room when I heard my mother's serious voice.
"What is in your shirt young lady?" She said with a hint of sass.
"I guess you should know..." I explained everything and my mom instantly said that we could keep him IF I took care of him and paid for food and stuff. I agreed.
"Hmm...what to name you...how about...Koro..." I smiled with my name.
Hello you guys! There will definitely be more parts to this story! I hope you enjoyed and stay tuned!
