By Your Side (JWCC Darius x Oc)

Step One

"Yaz, you need to know-" Kenji was saying but Yaz interrupted him again.

"No time. We have to figure out Darius' plan."

"What?" Brooklyn asked. "He's taking Tiff and Mitch to Main Street?" We then heard heavy footsteps approaching and a dinosaur growl. Yaz gasped and fell back while trying to scoot away.

"Bumpy?" Yaz asked before looking up and spotting Ben.

"Hey." Ben greeted. "Yasmine." Ben cleared his throat and offered a handshake but she got up and hugged him. "You're a hugger now, Fadoula?"

"Still have mixed feelings about it, but I......you're....." Yaz didn't finish as she hugged Ben again.

"Yeah, yeah, we have been trying to tell you about it, but in more pressing news, Darius isn't taking the hunters to the watering hole." Brooklyn interpreter and gave the map to Ben.

"What? Why would he take them straight to the T. Rex?" Ben asked.

"Rexy." I corrected but Ben didn't bother.

"Home court advantage." Kenji said and I released it, too.

"Darius and Sammy know the terrain, and Tiff and Mitch don't. It'll be easier to lose them on Main Street than in the jungle." I explained.

"Then what are we waiting for? Let's go help them!" Yaz said.

"Yes! Bumpy and I are ready to roll." Ben grinned.

"Uh-uh. Big problemo. There's no way we'll make it to Main Street before they do." Kenji pointed out.

"Well, there is one obvious shortcut." Brooklyn said while motioning to the ground.

"Down there? You must be joking. Don't you remember last time? Not only is it super dark and creepy, but we nearly died! Nope. No go for Kenji." Kenji complained.

"Kenji, we almost die everyday all over the island." I point out. Kenji sighed in defeat before giving in. Brooklyn hopped onto her bike again with Kenji behind her while I hopped on mine with Yaz behind me. Ben got on Bumpy. We then found an entrance to the tunnels that we could get the bikes and Bumpy through, before we were racing through the tunnels.

"We're doing this!" Brooklyn cheered. Brooklyn was in front then me then Ben, since Kenji was giving directions.

"Left!" Kenji said and Brooklyn carefully turned the corner with me following and Ben behind me. "Now right! Right!" Brooklyn took a hard right and I followed. "Could you maybe take those turns a little less murder?" Kenji asked before me and Brooklyn had to hit the brakes and slide to a stop because of the gates. Ben got off of Bumpy and tapped the gate.

"Let's take this down, Bumps." Ben said. Bumpy ran forward and hit her tail against the gate but the gate didn't budge. Ben and Bumpy continued to hit the gate it still did nothing.

"Yeah, I don't think Wild Child and his Amazing Dino are gonna be able to punch through that gate." Yaz said.

"Okay, maybe Bumpy just needs a little pep talk to bring it down." Kenji suggested before crouching in front of Bumpy and holding her head. "You're not gonna let some door stand in your way, are you, Bumpy? You break barriers, barriers don't break you!" Kenji said but Bumpy only nudged him. "What do we do now?" Bumpy continued to hit the gate but it didn't work.

"It's not budging." Ben said as Brooklyn approached the gate. Suddenly a clang was heard and we looked around anxiously. "What-what was that?"

"There it is again." Brooklyn mumbled. We then heard whirring and followed it to a door. "If there's electricity down here, we could find a way to raise that gate. We gotta follow that hum." Brooklyn then used the keycard and the door opens to reveal a cold hallway.

"Whoa. It's cold enough in here to—"

"To freeze flowers." Brooklyn interrupted Ben.

"Is that a thing people say now?" Ben asked confused but we just continued to walk down the cold hallway. We followed the hum all the way to another door.

"It's coming from here!" Brooklyn said. She then opened the door with the key card and we walked into the dark room.

"Wow. What is all this?" Yaz asked.

"Oh, snap! This must be, like, some kind of secret backup power center! My dad might not even know about this place." Kenji said.

"We gotta find a way to raise that gate and get to Sammy and Darius. Start looking!" Brooklyn ordered and we all started looking for ways to raise that gate.

"We gotta get the power on!" Yaz said.

"None of these are the right buttons!" Ben pointed out.

"Oh! One of them has to be. I once helped a Dutch seamstress find an actual needle in an actual haystack. I can find this." Brooklyn said. Kenji then flipped a switch in the breaker box and the power suddenly turned on. The screen in front of us lit up and the control panel came to life. "Kenji, you did it!"

"Natch!" Kenji grinned. Brooklyn then hit a few switches and the cameras came online.

"Now, where are they?" Brooklyn asked.

"You guys, look! Look, they're right there!" Yaz pointed at the screen with Darius and Sammy.

"We can see you!"

"Yeah! Yes!"

"Finally!" We all gasped when we seen on another screen Tiff and Mitch. "Shoot! Shoot, no! Darius, Sammy, behind you!" Brooklyn tried talking into the speakers but they didn't work.

"Darius! Sammy! Guys!" Kenji yelled.

"They can't hear us." Ben sighed.

"Where is the stupid speaker button?" Brooklyn yelled.

"Hey, wave if you can hear us!" Yaz yelled. Brooklyn then gasped. I look over and seen her clicking through camera before stopping on one that should Rexy leaving her lair.

"Oh, no." Brooklyn gasped. We watched on the camera as Rexy chased Tiff and Mitch around before scaring them off. We then watch as Rexy started walking back to her lair. "Oh, that's it. Come on, be a good girl and go on back home." We then watched as Rexy stopped before turning and walking over to where Darius and Sammy were hiding under a table.

"No, Rexy, no." I mumbled. Rexy then knocked the table over and cornered Darius and Sammy in between two shops, but she couldn't reach them. Yaz, Ben, Brooklyn, Kenji, and I then started pushing different buttons to try and find something to help Darius and Sammy.

"There's gotta be another way to help." Brooklyn said.

"Fence control, power to retail shops, automatic advertising loop......hologram?" Kenji read off. We then hit random buttons that made the lights on Main Street turn on and off, distracting Rexy, until the hologram showed up of a T.Rex. "Hologram!" Kenji cheered. Kenji then found the speaker button and started speaking into it. "Testing. Testing. Party people! What, what? Hello, humans. It is I, your leader." Brooklyn then shoved Kenji out of the way.

"We found a backup generator and turned the power on!" Brooklyn explained. We watched on the screen as they started talking but we couldn't hear them. "We can't hear you. What are you trying to say? What happened to Tiff and Mitch? I still can't hear you. Act it out!"

"Ooh, I love this game. Okay, uh......tv shows? Books. A song!" Kenji guessed.

"A circle! Dirt! They're drinking, uh......water!" Yaz guessed and Brooklyn gasped.

"The watering hole! They're going to the watering hole?" Brooklyn asked and Darius and Sammy sent us a thumbs up. They then acted out shooting at something.

"Mitch and Tiff know where it is." Yaz sighed.

"And they're going to kill the dinosaurs." Brooklyn said sadly.
