They both started walking away from the crowd towards the secret pathway that leads to her room.
"Never have I ever enjoyed so much in my life, it was so fun, the dance was rather exhausting but I can dance forever with them if given a chance. Now, I get why you were so excited for this festival. The food was also so delicious and those craft pieces were so beautiful. Our people are so talented, aren't they?"
She kept on talking about how she enjoyed the fair without even letting him answer anything.
Once she came to a stop, he chuckled, making her look at him.
"And.. never had I ever heard you speak so much, you're annoying. " He said, faking his disgust as she raised both her eyebrows.
"Dare say that again, you'll lose your head" she spoke, also mocking her anger at him.
They both burst out laughing.
" But, it's so fun to be a commoner even if it's just for a day. No tension, no burden, no perfection, just me." She sighed.
" Being a crown princess is tough, right? " He asked, sprinting towards her, who kept walking with long steps.
"Just tough?" She turned around and looked at him. He gave a nervous chuckle as she continued
" It's not just tough, when all you have ever been taught is to obey your father's decision.
Even if it was handling a sword at the age when girls get to play with dolls, even if it was his decision for me to spend my childhood learning war tactics when children my age played home. Even if it was his decision for me to learn to break labyrinths when children my age used to break castle houses.
Honestly, I've never experienced what a childhood is like because my whole childhood was spent in shaping me into a warrior who can protect this throne until my father rules the throne. The day I'm crowned, they'll start searching for a suitable candidate to rule along with me. So that the throne gets its King as soon as possible. Because all I need to do is look after the kingdom when The King is not present and then I would be expected to obey the future king or my husband to be more precise. Then why did they snatched MY childhood away from me??
You know Jungkook, I don't blame my dad for it because he just wanted me to look after his kingdom when he is old enough to get down from his position… " she paused coming closer to him and took his hand in her own and continued
" Then why do they need a King, I've sacrificed my whole childhood to become who I am today then why?? Am I not enough?? I've been trained just like a King is, for my whole life. To be a perfect ruler, a perfect queen, a perfect daughter, and I'm tired of being perfect. I can't anymore.. " she traced off her words as she broke down into sobs.
Jungkook's heart broke from the sight in front of him. He was beyond shocked when he came to know the harsh reality of her words. The tears in her eyes didn't help him as well. He embraced her tightly as she sobbed harder.
He gave her a comforting silence. They both stayed in the same position for a little long and broke the hug when her sobs died down.
"You don't need a King to prove yourself worthy for any throne. You are born a ruler, be it of kingdom or hearts. Your love for your citizens , your kindness are one of a kind. And your dad, his majesty is not someone who'll marry you off to someone without your consent, I'm sure about it. " He consoled her.
" I know he won't but the marriage of a princess takes place for political reasons not for personal reasons. And political decisions aren't made by one, the whole court decides that. "
He took her hand and squeezed them softly.
She wiped her tear stained cheeks and nodded assuringly. "Let's go or my dad will kill you for eloping with his daughter." She laughed lightly trying to ease the atmosphere.
