"Morning!" I said as I entered the kitchen with my robe wrapped around myself and my bunny slippers on my feet with a messy bun on my head, I kissed both my mom and dad on the cheek before sitting on the table and waiting for the chef to give me my breakfast, today was pancakes! I always made sure to ask for pancakes on the first day of school just because I felt like having something sweet before heading off to school.
"Morning sweetie!" My mom said as she joined me and my dad at the table who was currently reading the newspaper "Did you sleep well?" she asked and I nodded as I sipped on my glass of orange juice that was seated at my usual place
"Ready for those A's honey?" my dad asked with a smile and I nodded slightly as my food came to a view, I licked my lips and waited for the chef to put it in front of me, as soon as it was there I began eating it; our Chef, Paolo made the most delicious food I've ever tasted! If I could eat somewhere for the rest of my life I would, without a doubt, choose my kitchen if Paolo were cooking
"What extracurricular's are you planning on taking this year?" my mom asked and I set my fork and knife down and wiping my mouth before speaking
"I don't really know, senior year is different, I might take yearbook or something fun like that." I said with a shrug and was met with my father's hard gaze
"Yearbook won't get you into a good college, sweetheart." he muttered and I sucked in a deep breath before speaking
"Extracurricular's aren't everything a college is looking for." I answered "My grades are just as good as they always have been, I just want to try something fun because it's my last year."
"I think it'd be okay if you did yearbook or something, as long as you did something that the board would notice and consider for your application." my mom said and I sighed in relief. If you couldn't already tell, my parent's were really strict about my grades because they wanted me to get into Harvard or something like that, especially my dad. My mom was alright, she wanted the best for me, but still wanted to see me happy. My dad thought otherwise.
"How many AP's are you taking?" my dad asked and I sighed quietly
"I think three?" I said, more like a question because I wasn't really sure
"I thought we agreed on four." he said and I slammed my fork down slightly and then apologised quietly
"No, you said so, I never agreed." I answered "I just think it's too much, between my job at the book store, my other AP's and my regular homework, I think that it's enough." I said lightly "And I just kind of want time to myself or if I want to hang our with Dinah on the weekends." I said with a shrug
"Where is Dinah applying, honey?" My mom asked, curiosuly "I haven't talked to her mom recently."
"She's actually taking a year off." I said and my dad's head snapped towards me
"What?" he asked "How can she not be applying?" he exclaimed "What is she thinking?"
"She's applying next year because she wants to travel." I said "I actually think it's cool to take a small break of school for a while."
"But how can you guarantee that she'll even get in? And a year later?"
"I don't, but her parents don't seem to mind." I said as I shrugged
"I've never heard something more ridiculous in my life!" he exclaimed "Not going to college just so you can go off into the world and venture off to God knows where!"
"It's what she wants, Dad." I said "And if she's happy, what else matters?" I said before taking one final bite of my pancake and setting my plate aside "I have to go get ready." I muttered before going up to my room to prep for school.
