I pulled into a parking spot at Penrose Hospital.

I got out.

I shut the door.

I opened the passenger side door.

I easily lifted Scarlett up into my arms.

I shut the door.

I locked my truck.

I hurried into Penrose Hospital.

"Name?"

"Scarlett Rzucek."

"Date of birth?"

"12-17-13."

"What happened?"

"Um... She got in a fight and got her head slammed into the sidewalk."

A team of nurses with a Doctor approached us with a gurney.

They took her from me.

They laid Scarlett out on the gurney.

They rolled her away.

"They're just taking her into surgery. Don't worry about it."

"Mm."

"The family waiting room is right there."

I sat in the waiting room.

I entered Penrose Hospital around the same time Shanann, Frankie, CeCe, and Niko did.

We all sat in the waiting room.

"Can I speak honestly here?"

"It's the only thing you seem to do. So..."

Frankie laughed.

"They've formed their opinions of you all by themselves. Bella is the one always talking shit on you to them, not me."

"Yeah. She doesn't shut up when she tells her to either."

"She's made it quite clear that she's an adult. And that she's doing everything on her own. So, I'm letting her."

Frankie laughed.

"You letting Bella do whatever she wants in your house?"

"Yes. Some people change. Some people evolve. Without somebody holding them back."

"Wow. That's funny coming from you."

"I didn't make you take the job with Anadarko. You took that yourself. It was none of my business what you were doing. Except when it came to my girls."

Cristina, Addy, and Nickole walked in.

"It's my fault they're here. I posted on Facebook about it."

"That's not a surprise. You always be posting on Facebook. Whether it's family stuff or not."

"Oops."

"Mm."

"You made Mommy Dearest mad."

I laughed.

"I can ground you still. Both of you."

Niko and CeCe backed off.

"Mm."

Nickole, Addy, Cristina, and Shanann hugged.

They sat with them.

Nickole and her were texting back and forth.

"I guess that's his problem, not mine. He's the one who did the wrong thing, not you."
