Hawkins had a weird vibe to it. You couldn't put your finger on it, but a lot of people seemed on edge, all of the time. You had only recently moved to Hawkins a month prior from England, so you didn't really have anything to compare the weird behaviour to, assuming it was just Americans being oddballs. So, you ignored it and tried to make the most of your time exploring the town before summer ended and school started.

You were very nervous to start a new school, it was a completely different system to the one that you were used to, and you were worried that you were going to make a fool of yourself by having gaps in your knowledge. Though you weren't stupid, you didn't want to look it.

Your Thursday started as a normal day, you got dressed, threw on your unnecessary amount of rings and got into some converse that you had drawn random doodles on with your biro when you got bored. Having explored most of the outdoor scenery already, you decided to go for a shopping trip. The mall had apparently been burnt down some time ago so there wasn't really a 'shopping area', but there were some areas that you would say had 'high street shops'. Roads with some small businesses lining down almost the entirety of it.

With your walkman at the ready, you started the short twenty-minute walk to the area that you had discovered a couple of days ago and started your spree. First of all, you headed into a charity shop and ended up buying a plain denim jacket so that you could sew some patches on at a later date, most likely an activity to do on a rainy day.

You walked out with a spring in your step at the excitement of your new jacket and spotted another shop across the street a few doors down. "Family Video". It had been a while since you had rented a movie as you had spent most of your time recently redecorating your room and helping your Mum in redecorating the entire house. She had wanted to completely revamp it, and it looked good, but it had been an exhausting month. So, a movie sounded nice.

The bell rang when you entered and your eyes widened at just how many shelves of movies there were, your local movie store at home was a lot smaller, though you did come from a tiny, tiny town so it wasn't surprising. The next thing that you noticed was a guy around your age with fabulous hair restocking some shelves to the side, and then your eyes landed on the girl at the counter who was flicking through a book. Oh. She was pretty.

You gulped as you stepped forward slightly, suddenly feeling very self-conscious. The girl at the counter looked up after a few moments and flashed you a shy smile, that you awkwardly reciprocated before scanning the first shelf that you came across. Action thriller. You shrugged and continued scanning, not really fussed about the genre, you were up for anything as long as it was good.

Robin had been in a world of her own for most of the day. Although it was summer which was a busy time, it was Thursday which was a random day for people to rent movies, and so it was generally a pretty quiet day. Thus the book.

She was expecting it to be a dull day as always, just standing there waiting for the clock to hit 5 so that she could go home, maybe hang out with Steve or something. But she was taken by surprise when someone who looked to be the same age as her walked in, and man, she thought you were beautiful.

As to not seem creepy when you met her gaze, her instincts kicked in and she gave the most awkward smile she could muster. Internally she was cringing, but when she saw you smile back it turned into a real Robin smile, but you had already looked away at the shelf by that point, which she was kind of glad for. She tried to distract herself with her book again, but when she saw you saunter off to the horror section, she found herself looking up occasionally in your direction.
