WILLY'S POV:

Maya and I are in the middle of enjoying a
spectacular picnic of honey and nectar. Ahhh, could anything be better? No, it couldn't. Suddenly, a water fly dressed in a tuxedo comes up to me.

"Hello, young boy, you seem to be the food loving type."

"That's right, I am." I blush and am glad Maya doesn't notice. I recently have become disgusted when thinking about food, Ithink I'm eating too much.

"Why don't you join the first annual Meadow Pollen Eating Contest?"

I think about it. "How much pollen is there?" I ask him,
tapping my chin.

"A lot, you eat as much as you can," he replies.

"All right, I'll do it, how much time do I have to prepare?" I wonder.

"Three weeks, that should be just enough time to get your stomach ready for the contest."

"Thank you," I say, then turn to Maya. "Will you neip me, Maya?

"Of course, I'll be there to help you prepare, just call me Coach Maya!"

She salutes me and I salute back. Okay, that
settles it, three weeks of eating absolutely no food is perfect, I'l think of it as well-needed dieting that'll end on the day of the contest. Suddenly, Ben the green dung beetle flies over to me.

"Good luck, Willy, I bet you'll do as well as I did in the Annual Dung Ball Rolling Contest, your stomach can handle a lot of food!" he cheers.

I make a gross out face and
hold my nose. Yuck, I never will understand why Ben loves dung so much, I get it, it's his supper, but still, blah! That will never, EVER, replace my pollen, nectar, and honey. My stomach starts flip flopping as I talk to Ben. Ugh, thinking about food is making me feel SUPER sick! I have officially lost my appetite. Double yuck!

"Bye, Ben!" I wave and sit down back on the ground with Maya. "I'm full, Maya." I tell her.

"You've barely eaten anything. Are you feeling okay?"

"Of course, Maya, I'm just excited to start preparing for the contest." I lie.

Maya grins. "You sure do love to eat, huh, Willy?"

"Yep, this contest is a dream come true, I can't wait to win! But first I need a nap."

Maya sighs. "You sleepyhead. What am Igoing to do with you, Willy?"

I shake my head as she shakes her head and I head to a different section of the meadow to relax and think about the contest. I watch my honeybee friends Barrett, Edgar, and Zip fly overhead as I hum myself to sleep.
