"How was your date? Did it go well?""It wasn't a date, Stiles. I just had dinner with Allison and her parents. That's all," I said in response to Stiles.
That night had been playing in my head all weekend, and I couldn't let the thought of her go.
"You have nothing to worry about, unless of course, you're a monster."
"But seriously, don't worry, I trust you."
But I know just how fast that trust can be broken. I want to distance myself and hide away forever, though it won't solve anything.
You can't just run from your problems and expect them to get solved on their own, that's what you call a coward. The Albrecht's aren't cowards. That mindset has been engraved into me before I even popped out of the womb.
I don't want to live in a world where I need to run for my well-being, to keep myself and my family safe. However, I don't want to live in a world without Allison either.
"Hello, y/n? Are you still there, or is your internet cutting out again?" Stiles asks me.
Suddenly I hear my parents make their way up the stairs to my room with another unknown presence.
"I've got to go Stiles, I'll see you at school tomorrow." I respond to him in a hurry before my parents can get the opportunity to question me.
My Mother knocks, before she comes into my bedroom with both my father and a strange man.
This man had similar features in comparison to Mother. They also shared a similar stance and stern look on their faces as well.Meeting new people has never been an interest of mine, in fact, I hate it. I don't even know this guy and he shows up in my room with my parents? Don't be surprised if I begin screaming "Stranger Danger."
"Y/n, this is your Uncle, Dominic. He's come all the way from Italy, he'll be visiting us for some time before he goes home. Who knows? Maybe he'll convince you to finally follow our traditions and truly become one of us." Mama states. I knew this wasn't something she was suggesting.
Dominic, Mother's older brother. Now, you're probably wondering: if Dominic is the oldest of the two, how did the position of keeper of the Emerald Malkia get passed down to my Mother? Well, women have been in control for thousands of years. It's a part of our matriarchy.
"Don't fret my child, I shouldn't be staying too long. Your mother will make it hard for me to. Not sure how you all put up with her." Dominic jokingly says, glancing over to Mother who just gives him a raised eyebrow.
"We'll leave you two to get to know each other. I'm sure y/n has quite a few questions to ask."
Mom and Dad both exited the room, closing the door behind them. I couldn't help but make a snarky comment in response to their leaving.
" Thank god," both Dominic and I muttered to ourselves.
Maybe this guy won't be too bad.
Dominic stood tall, taller than Father. It's no surprise that I got my long legs from Mother's side of the family. My uncle had dark curly red hair that reached to the length of his shoulders, which were broad. He wore a black leather cropped jacket, with a tank top layered below. Dominic' paired his top with dark denim ripped jeans, long, but not quite long enough to cover the platform boots he wore.
"Listen Kiddo, your Mother wants me to influence your decision to carry on our family traditions. Though it may not seem like it, I really do understand how you feel. Why do you think I was away for so long? You may not remember me, but I remember you from when you were just a baby," Dominic explained to me.
He shared a few of his life stories, telling me about the good and bad times he's experienced. We had just met, but it feels like he truly does understand how I feel.
Dominic spoke of the many times where he felt pressured into his life choices.
"This just isn't the kind of life I wanted for myself, you know? I trust you will make the right decisions and everything will work out in the end."
I felt empathy for him, really. It seems like the both of us just want to lives of our own. Don't get me wrong, being a Legacy is completely badass. However, following all of the rules and traditions has never really been my sort of thing. I'd rather follow my own path.
Dominic and I actually seem to have a lot in common, more so than I thought we would. We both shared a love for music, and of course a strong hatred for the lack of personal freedom.
In this family, we can't be friends or let alone love who we want, without approval. It's one of the main reasons I refuse to mention anything, regarding my relationships with others, to my parents. They always have something negative to say, and I suppose I'm no better either.
My parents are very quick to judge someone, and that's who I get it from. You can't blame me though, we all are quick to judge individuals. Every life decision we have made was because we decided to judge something or someone. That's just how society has been. It truly sucks, but you have to come to terms with reality.

Tuesday morning had arrived, and so had that burning feeling in my throat again. The urge to fake being sick was a thought that lingered in my mind, and honestly, the idea didn't sound too bad. Only one problem, vamps don't get sick.
I absolutely adore Allison, but the thought of seeing her, almost made me feel sick. She makes me feel so happy and safe, but somehow devastated and endangered at the same time.
I couldn't help but revisit that night, remembering the countless amount of bookshelves completely filled from top to bottom. I remember tracing my fingers along the wall and shelves, eyeing the many family pictures hanging up. The Argent's house was far more detailed and full of color, they really seemed like a happy family.
The Albrecht's have lived in this home for years, dating back to the 1800s when it was built. The color lies outside of the home, where our flower garden stands. The rest of the house? Well, you would think you're colorblind the moment you stepped within the doors. Our lack of family photos and lighting is very evident as well.
Mother prefers to keep the lighting in the house dim. Understandable, I suppose. Our main source of light comes from the apple cinnamon scented candles that she prefers to buy. As for pictures, a large portrait of Lilith with our serpent lays upon the arch of the fireplace. There's no telling how old the painting is, I don't care enough to know.
I rested in bed for a short few more minutes, before finally deciding to begin my Tuesday. I just hope this week will be all right. My symptoms have only worsened, and with Allison around, they don't get any better.
If only you knew though, that from here on out, things will only get worse.
Hell is just beginning.
