Years after the Calamity had been defeated by Link and Zelda, the two sought out a peaceful life at Link's home in Hateno, the one he had purchased on his hunt for the divine beasts and his memories. Unbeknownst to him, he had repurchased the home he had left behind 100 years prior and Bolson had given him a partial refund for the mix up. After a few months of redecorating, refurbishing and cleaning up, the home was finally suitable for two to finally settle down.

It was Zelda's idea to get gardens around the home, both flowers and vegetables, though the second one was Link's idea, and she had bounced happily at the idea. She had begun naming vegetable after vegetable, to the point where she had to be stopped because the entire yard wouldn't have enough space for them, nor did they have the right climate for some of the suggestions.

Zelda had gone off early in the morning to buy her seeds while Link would take care of the landscaping.

It was a warm morning, the sun was coming up and peaking out of the mountains behind the house, and Link was outside with a shovel and hoe in hand with plans to expand their garden. His hair was tied higher than he usually did, pulling the bangs out of his face and slammed the shovel into the dirt, loosening the level of grass below. He had started with an outline and was slowly coming through, pulling out the patches of grass one by one. Time passed as Link continued his task until a shadow loomed over him.

"How goes it, my hard worker?" The sweet voice of Zelda rang out to him as she extended a glass to him filled with ice cold juice. "It's hydromelon." She knelt down, keeping her knees hovering over the loose dirt. "Why don't we just plant around the grass? Why pull it out?" She pulled at the smaller tufts that had been pulled previously.

"More space for food, and better hydration too. Weeds won't take over." He huffed out, taking a long sip from the cup. "Cleaner and easier to manage for the following seasons." Zelda absorbed the knowledge bit by bit, listening carefully.

This was something Link adored with Zelda. Anything she had questions with, she would absorb the information given like a sponge, and she would retain it and apply it to the best of her abilities. ' My little scholar .' He did miss the frequent trips they would take when she visited Purah and Robbie for updates on technology advancements, and while she still did it, it wasn't as often, though he did admit that the ride to Akkala was a long one, teleporting just wasn't the same as enjoying the scenery.

"So when can we plant the seeds? I got radishes, pumpkins, endura carrots, wildberries." She kept listing off different plants, some he didn't even know could grow in their part of the continent. ' Do Wildberries even grow here? I've only ever seen them in the Hebra mountains...' He pushed the thought away and let Zelda assemble the berries back into her satchel.

Link looked at the half finished garden and thought for a moment. "Maybe tomorrow, not sure." He motioned that he had to finish a section so the garden would be even. "And I've got to loosen the soil, so maybe tomorrow if we're lucky."

"But it might rain tomorrow"

"That's good. If we plant the seeds before it rains, then we won't need to water it ourselves when we're done." Link watched Zelda put her satchel in the makeshift barn and come back, determination in her eyes.

"Show me what I can do!" She grabbed the hoe and waited eagerly for an order.

"No."

"Yes!"

"Zelda, no."

Zelda pouted her lip out and crossed her arms childishly. "Why not?"

Link chuckled at the sight. Zelda resembled a 12 year old who had just been told no dessert before dinner. "Look at me, I'm sweating a storm and my hands are cut up." he started. "My clothes are probably permanently stained green and I have dirt where dirt shouldn't be." Zelda restrained a small giggle from escaping.
