The girl who was undoubtedly afraid, gripped the sheets tightly, pulling it up to her nose. Her eyes watched the shadow that was enlarging as it approached the window.

A figure.

She shivered beneath the sheets, heart thundering. Before this event, she was sure she had wanted to die. But now she wasn’t so sure. Murder would be a death filled with pain and terror.

The figure did not stop at the closed window – it walked straight through it. The curtain protruded as it came through, creating a ghostly sight.

She jumped at the sound of a heavy leather boot dropping down onto the wooden floor. And slowly the figure slipped out from behind the curtain.

In the split of a second the girl slipped out of her bed, turned on the bedside lamp and armed herself with a pair of scissors from her drawer. But when she saw what was in front of her, she knew that it was hopeless.

He was tall, very tall. So tall that his head reached the ceiling, and he had to hunch slightly to stop it from hitting. He was lanky too, dressed in skinny black clothing, his jeans tucked into his boots. The whitest thing about him was his pale hands and angular face, with cat-like eyes that glowed green - framed by a head of jet-black hair.

The tall boy paused in a most awkward position, looking at the girl as if headlights were pointed towards him.

“Don’t be afraid, I’m not here to hurt you.”

She was certain that he hadn’t moved his mouth, yet his voice was so clear in her ears.

“Then… what?”

“To help you.”

“Help me what? I don’t need help.”

A smile stretched across his face.

“Tell me who you are. How did you walk through the window?”

“You should recognise me. We have met before in other circumstances. I am the Truth. And I can walk through windows.”

“The Truth? Walk through windows… Met before? I’ve never met a person who looks like you.”

She had never been so confused.

“Truth may come in many forms. Nevertheless, it was me, and I have come again to make you believe, once and for all.”
