Something Unforgettable:
CHAPTER ONE: An Exit To Remember.
He called her horse. Irving Sanhurro rode with un-neccesarily long spurs. Most people who saw him would compliment his white suede boots before accusing him of cruelty for the sharp end of his iron spurs, the brown stains on the edges didn't help his case. But if the bystanders who gawked at his spurs and the cow puncher's who told him that if you can't break a bronco without hurting it then you'll never be as good as he is, if they knew the reason then maybe their reactions would differ. Of course what they didn't know is that Irving Sanhurro rode one mean bitch of a horse.
The rancher from The Spaniard's Gulch who sold Irving the Mustang had tried his best at warning him away from such a purchase but Irving was sure that he wanted her from the minute he saw her. Of course what Irving didn't know at the time was that The Mustang, Irving had bought was the meanest horse he'd seen this side of the Mississippi. Irving never gave her a name, just called her horse when he had to. Never thought it was something that should have a name, after all it was just a nag to get him from place to place and although it took what felt like forever to break the sonovabitch' he could ride it now and didn't ever need to call it by any particular name. So. for him, horse was enough.
Cold was the night when Irving hitched horse outside of the Jennerson Hotel. He left his hat atop a lamp and wiped his mouth. He spotted L.T behind the bar and signalled with one hand for the usual. L.T nodded and continued talking with a beautiful Mexican maiden sat atop a bar stool before he went about getting Irving his drink. Irving looked at the fine Mexican girl and she smiled back at him with a flame in her eyes, Irving is reminded of his Mother's eyes and her long flowing black hair takes him back to the innocent first loves of his school days. The young woman put her glass down and crossed her legs before placing her hands on the bar and turning away from Irving with a coy smile.
Irving wiped away a smirk and got up, taking the hint he walked three seats down and sat beside her.
'What brings a girl like you to a man like me?'
'I'm meeting my Husband.'
'Oh, husband, never was a fan of those.'
The woman laughs.
'Not surprised though, gal like you, makes sense someone woulda snatched you up before me.'
'You're very nice.'
Irving grins, showing his proud white teeth. The young Mexican girl felt her stomach flutter. For a dirty Gringo he was handsome and she'd never seen a set of teeth so pearly white.
'I'm alot of things. No one ever tried to shoot a nice man.'
'Why have people tried to shoot you?'
'Well usually cos they thought they were quick.'
'But they weren't?'
'Oh they were quick, but I'm always quicker.'
'Here's your drink Irving! Now leave the Gal alone.'
L.T placed Irving's usual: Dimple Pinch Neat on the bar and looked at him in annoyance.
'I ain't botherin' anyone L.T!'
'Well you're bothering me.'
'L.T if you were worth bothering you'd know about it.'
L.T shakes his head laughing and walks away.
'I saw her first Irving.'
'Well I'll see her last.'
The woman giggled but tried to hide it. Had she not been here to visit her Husband perhaps things would be going differently but she composed herself and tried to push away any thoughts of infedility. Irving looked at his watch and sighed.
