I entered the royal palace after devouring some men. They tasted nasty though, it always made me sick. I head to the throne room, where my parents sit. They looked at me with disappointed eyes, which made me kind of scared. Well I'm used to it, they've been hard on me ever since the Dahlia Island incident. The rules of the sea got stricter ever since it happened, and many sea creatures blamed me for it.

"Nicha, what took you so long?" My father asked.

"Got late after taking Lisa home to her place." I replied

"Liar." My mother said. "Your teacher reported you were late for the hunt. What was the re-" I cut her off.

"Mother, I'm already 24, why do I still have to undergo siren training?" I complained. "Why can't I do some royal duties like learning about the law of the sea and stuff?"

"Only male sirens get to do that Nicha." My mother said. "A female siren's job is to lure men that travel in the sea. That's why nature gifted us a magical voice that can hallucinate men."

"That's unfair! How come humans are the opposite?! Male humans get to do all the physical job and not women!" I yelled making the whole hall echo.

"HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO TELL YOU NICHA?!" My father stood up. "TO NEVER SPEAK ABOUT HUMANS AGAIN?! WE ARE SIRENS! WE ARE BLESSED BY NATURE BY GIVING US UNIQUE POWERS THAN THEY DO! YOU SHOULD BE THANKFUL YOU ARE BORN AS A SIREN!"

I looked at my father with rage. I was tired of his bullshit. No, not his bullshit, but this bullshit. I've always thought I'm the unluckiest person in the world. Being born as a monster that is meant to kill humans sickens me. Though I somehow have a grudge against humans, my grudge against my own kind is bigger than that. I wish nature didn't make us like this. I wish we were a peaceful kind. Human or not, I just wished we weren't meant to devour other kinds.

"Father........ I've always tried to become a better daughter for you.... But you don't understand how hard it is for me to live like this. It's not that I want to be associated with humans, but, I just want to live in peace. And yes, I agree humans are cruel, but aren't we cruel too? Murdering other kinds in order to give us benefits? What kind of gift is that? If our lives matter, then their lives should matter too!"

My father hissed as his eyes turned black, meaning his demon form is starting to take over. Monstrous gills started to grow from his body, his teeth grew sharper just like that of a shark. Well, this is nature's gift to us, a cursed gift in my opinion.

"Look at what you've done Nicha!" My mother shouted as she tried to calm my father down. But he couldn't calm down. Did I really make him that angry? "Calm down honey, you're gonna be fin-"

My father let out a monstrous screech as sharp appendages grew around his face and his back, like that of a dragon. His nails followed by growing sharper. I slowly backed away, thinking of what should I do next? Escape the palace? No, should I escape the kingdom?

As my father continued to make monstrous noises, a group of sirens entered the throne room, with the possession of a trident.

"NICHA YONTARARAK!" My mom yelled as tears started to form in her eyes. "YOU ARE A BIG DISAPPOINTMENT TO YOUR OWN KIND! I KNEW IT! I KNEW IT EVER SINCE YOU'VE COMMITTED A CRIME AS A CHILD! CAN'T BELIEVE I GAVE BIRTH TO THE WRONG PERSON!"
