Mike sat on the couch next to Amy as Vic came to the living room with popcorn.
"Hey, who's ready for family movie night?" Vic asked excitedly as he sat down between Colby and Amy.
"Seriously? This is how we're gonna spend our weekends from now on?" Amy asked. Mike then grabbed a handful of popcorn and shoved it in his mouth as Amy looked at him with disgust.
"Yep. This is what ordinary families do and now the Maddens plus Mike, are an ordinary family." Eva said as Jake lifted the couch for the remote.
"I found the remote" he said holding it up, Mike and Amy were extremely close especially their faces, Mike realized and turned his head the other way.
"Think I also found a rat problem" he said looking under the couch then putting it back down. Mike let out a sigh in relief. Suddenly the doorbell rang.
Everyone quickly stood up and went into their fighting positions except for Mike who looked at him like they were weirdos.
"Everyone just act normal" Vic said in his fighting position
"Define normal" Mike said looking at him as the door bell kept ringing. Mike then stood up and went to open the door. As he opened it he saw an older woman and a girl who looked about his age.
"Oh, look, everybody. It's our landlady Celia and her granddaughter Hartley." Eva said as Hartley waved
"Hello, landlady Celia and her granddaughter Hartley." Everyone said in unison.
"Your first months rent is ten bucks short." Celia said
"Oh, sorry about that. Can you break a twenty?" Vic said hopefully
"Nope." Celia said looking grumpy. Then Hartley came in the house.
"You look really familiar. Do I know you from somewhere?" She said looking at Amy.
"No, I don't think so." She said backing away from her.
"Well, we were just about to start family movie night." Eva said about to close the door.
"Great. What are we watching? I love a good war movie." Celia said coming in as flopping on the couch.
"Uh, on second thought, we really should get some rest. We're still adjusting to the time difference here in Texas." Vic said as everyone faked yawned. Mike rolled his eyes.
"Or maybe because we don't wanna hang out with you guys" Mike shrugged as Celia glared at him.
"Hey, why don't you teach your son some manners huh?" She said looking him up and down.
"I'm actually not their son, I'm more of a family friend, you see my parents died when I was a baby and since my parents were close with the maddens, I got stuck here" He explained. Mike could've swore he saw Amy give him a look of sympathy.
