The Aftermath

Everyone in the room was quiet.

No one uttered a word and stood perfectly still as the realization of what had just occured had begun to slowly settle in.

A mixture of confusing emotions struck the heart of Kel, Aubrey, and Hero.

Keeping their gazes fixated on Sunny, they displayed no signs of animosity. Instead, confusion and distraught begin to enclose them at a rapid rate.

Hero was the first to react.

"I..." A word escaped his lips. Hero's voice quivered as he spoke. Even an outsider would be able to hear the pain hidden within his speech. Hero's face contorted expressing a mixture of both anger and despair. Slowing his breathing, Hero closed his eyes and shut himself out for a second to calm himself down.

Not wanting to act on emotion...not wanting to blow up on Sunny or Basil for the horrible mistake they made; Hero slowly opened his eyes before then walking out the door. He made sure to close it gently behind him to avoid creating a scene.

Aubrey on the other hand clenched her fist. Shaking, she began to tear up as memories of Mari began to flood her mind all at once. "You piece of trash..." She grumbled under her breath while gritting her teeth. Storming over towards him with a balled fist Aubrey drew closer. Sunny winched and his body tensed up as he braced himself for impact.

However, to his surprise, nothing struck him.

Slowly opening his eyes, he watched tears trickle down Aubrey's cheeks as she broke down. Sobbing and sniffling her lips pressed together as she struggled to hold in her voice before storming out. The door slammed behind her once she left.

The only people who now remained in the room aside from Sunny was both Kel and Basil. Kel's face displayed sadness, but he didn't cry. No tears formed in his eyes but his melancholy expression said a thousand words.

Basil simply sighed in relief, as he laid back in his bed and closed his eyes. A smile crept across his lips as a weight had finally left his chest upon Sunny revealing the truth. After hiding a dark secret from their friends for so long...Basil could now finally rest and keep his mind at ease knowing that he didn't have to hide anymore.

Essentially the truth had set him free.

Though the guilt for his actions filled his heart with dread and agony...the guilt was at least now a bit more bearable. With that being said, the exhausted Basil laid totally still before then slowly drifting asleep once more.

Kel approached Sunny and with no words and pulled him into a warm embrace.

Sunny froze but gazed up at Kel who said nothing while holding him close.

Pulling away, Kel pat him on the shoulder and reassured him. "...Hey. I..." he struggled to get the words out. "Sunny. It's okay. I know you didn't do what you did on purpose..." Kel murmured a bit. "It's okay...everything is gonna be okay."

Sunny said nothing. All he did was close his eyes as he felt relief fill his mind, spirit, and his body.

Whether or not he was forgiven by everyone else didn't matter at that moment. All that mattered was that he had the courage to tell the truth and more importantly...the courage to move on and forgive himself.

This is pretty short I know but I thought I'd make this as a thank you. This game is honestly one of the most impactful games I have ever played. I enjoyed every second of it.

I mainly made this to display how I think the characters would react in this situation. Since Hero had a strong crush on Mari (which was at least implied in the game), I figured he'd have some mixed emotions and just walk out to clear his head a bit. Aubrey would have a similar reaction but be a lot more expressive than Hero.

And Kel? Well...I think he'd try to forgive Sunny as soon as possible to maintain the friendship he worked so hard to rekindle between the group.

I might be wrong but I personally don't agree with the fact that the Fandom thinks that Hero would react aggressively and so on so forth.
