Screams, cries, and howls are all that can be heard in the distance as fire can be seen burning brighter than the full moon lighting up the night sky. The village suffers alone trying to defend themselves with useless medieval weapons as the shifted beastly wolves tore through flesh and wood. The villagers stood no chance against the wrath that was brought down upon them.

The alpha watches his son conquer the village, assessing each decision. He saw how his son led the pack to victory over the town and decided the black-furred wolf was ready to become alpha and choose his mate. However, the alpha saw that the black-furred wolf refused to take a mate whether it be Lycan or human. Gazing up at the moon he let out a howl in victory setting eyes on the North ready to see if the next village proved itself loyal to the contract. The Lycan alpha had no respect for human life, yet the many alphas before him had made a treaty with the humans to protect them from the other creatures of the night as long as the Blood Moon Pack had full control over them. The only requirements that mattered were that the humans didn't try to revolutionize, that they had to provide offerings and potential human mates, that they could not flee their designated lands without permission as well as they weren't allowed to retaliate. To the Lycan, these terms seemed easy enough, yet multiple villages have broken these rules, and all met the same fate.

Staring at the glow of fires in the south had worried the chief of the North village. He watched in silence knowing that the Lycan was to visit his village next. They have followed all the rules, but the youth seem to be rebellious of the Lycan rule. Glancing over at his wife, they seemed to share the same fear, of losing their eldest. Their eldest is a lovely mature daughter who has been sought out by many of the villagers, it is feared the possibility that she may be chosen as a protentional mate to the alpha's son, a recently matured unmated lycan. Rumors from other villages say the son is ruthless, bloodthirsty, and cruel.

"What shall we do Andrew, we can't hide her, nor can we let her go to be seen?" Melisa asked quietly as her 5-year-old son cuddled into her side after another nightmare.

"We don't have many options unless we send her to stay with the village pariahs, which would be the last place the Lycan would look for a mate. Merida is a good friend of yours and her son is well-behaved for a fre-" the chief stopped mid-sentence at the glare he received from his wife.

The town pariah is well known for not only housing her queer nephew; that her sister and brother-in-law were murdered by Lycan, forcing her to take in her nephew. Most in the village didn't accept the boy's unusual attraction but did accept that he was a good worker and well-educated for a farmer and veterinarian. He has good manners and is quiet-spoken, preferring a book over a conversation any day. Much to the chief's disapproval, his daughter was close with the boy so he couldn't do much to chase him out.

"He is a good boy to have around no matter who he loves. He has been a big support for our daughter and his aunt provides the villagers the wolfsbane to keep the Lycan away when they are not expected." His wife scolds him with a glare, " and before you get any ideas doing something rash, we should head to sleep to be prepared for tomorrow."

With a sigh, the chief agrees and gets in bed kissing his wife's cheek and his son on the forehead closing his eyes, drifting into a restless sleep.
