I watch from the window of my room as dragons start arriving. First is the SilkWings. A pair of dragonesses. One, deep purple, the other, a calming mint.

The LeafWings follow them. Three dragonesses. The youngest wears a crown carved of smooth wood with leaves etched into it. The older two have their tails twined together. One has golden flecks on her vibrant green scales. The other has spots like sunlight through a canopy.

Next, the IceWings. Two dragonesses with their wings over each other's backs.

Then, the Talons of Peace. A sky blue SeaWing & an IceWing. The IceWing has a dragonet, who must be his daughter, tucked protectively under his wing.

Next, a blind Nightwing & a cheerful one land inside the wall. A spectacled LeafWing dragonet follows them.

The SkyWing royals arrive next. A ruby red SkyWing with a long neck leads the group. Behind her is a dragon who looks like he's never even heard of smiling. A dragonet with amethysts on her tiara follows the queen & her advisor. Her scales are an odd mix of reds & greens

A wing of MudWings land just before the RainWings & NightWings. Queen Glory walks towards the palace, King Deathbringer flanking her protectively.

The last to arrive are the SeaWings. An old, blue dragoness covered horns-to-tail in pearls. A timid green dragon follows her. A beautiful dragonet with deep blue scales looks at the palace in awe. Her hazel eyes shine with curiosity & her pearls seem to sit perfectly on her round body. I catch myself staring at the smaller dragoness & shake my head to clear it.

I walk down the stairs to greet the arriving dragons. I'm so wrapped up in anxiety of what to say to them, that I don't see the dragon in front of me until I collide with them. I hear a small yelp & instinctively reach out my talon to help. A pair of talons grab my arm & I look down to see the young SeaWing from earlier.

My face gets warm. I pull her upright, saying, "Sorry about that. I wasn't looking where I was going."

She doesn't speak. She just stares at me, apparently in shock.

I snap my claws in front of her face, "Hello? You in there?"

She shakes her head & her cheeks gain a pinkish tint. She regains her composure & an annoyed look crosses her face, "I should hope you're sorry. Do you have any I was who you just nicked over? I am Pearl, the granddaughter of Queen Coral. I am her chosen heir."

I look her head in the eyes, "Well, I am princess Velvet. The one & only daughter of Queen Jewel."

Pearl narrows her eyes, "Well, then I suppose we should get used to each other's faces, shouldn't we?"

I nod. I catch a slight glimpse of a smile as she turns away & walks towards her room.
