"I don't think you quite understand what this means for us," the boy with a speed catalyst spoke. The wind around us suddenly felt different, I know Ambrose felt it too.
"Nah it's you who doesn't," Ambrose said, generating an amount of energy to create multiple shards, mimicking him. The shards were exact copies of Ambrose and they were scattered around the spatial space he created. "Are you sure this is what you want to do on your first day?" I asked him through telepathy."Well if you don't want to, you can always step out of the spatial space, remember?" He replied. I let out a sigh and did step out of the barrier.
"I will do the fighting, you stay and watch me beat these guys, 'kay?" He added. I sensed the aura of the speed catalyst, who was rather moving around faster than anticipated. He was being aided by the other person who could manipulate wind, making him run faster and lighter. I figured he was trying to sniff out the real body of Ambrose by smashing the crystal shards. It was almost unlucky for him as I sensed Ambrose's aura stepping out of the spatial space and felt a hand grab my wrists and pull me away from the crowd. Ambrose made us both invisible, leading me further away.
"That should hold them up for a while," he said panting.
"What were you thinking back there smartass?" I said."It's fine it's not like they'll remember anything inside the spatial space," he continued, still catching his breath.
"What if people saw you?!" I said, smacking his arm.
"Ow! I made sure they didn't so stop worrying," he retaliated, rubbing on the spot I hit him.
"You are too reckless for that," I responded.
"The school can't discover our catalyst, I know I know," he added, rubbing the back of his neck. "I couldn't help it, I haven't been provoked like that in a while," he continued, a mischievous tone to his voice. I looked at him almost in disbelief but dismissed what I was about to say. We reached the school's rooftop and I plopped down on the floor, near the wall. I closed my eyes and took in the fresh afternoon breeze. "Hey Scar?""Yeah?" I said as I heard him walking towards me and felt his body beside me.
"I'm sorry about earlier," he said as he leaned his head over my shoulder. I smiled a bit and ruffled my hand through his hair in a playful manner. I couldn't help but feel nostalgic about our position right now. Every school we moved into always seemed to have problems in terms of having catalysts--and we were always in the middle of it on the first days.

We were up at the school's rooftop for quite some time—possibly skipping 2 hours of class. Ambrose needed some time to recover from a while ago with the other students. I also needed the time to suppress my aura seeing as he sensed mine when we were out in the courtyard. Aside from that, we both shared what information we got so far and found some ways to avoid being detected by the higher-ups. Ambrose had the telepathic ability and suggested that we used his brainwashing techniques whenever they encounter our catalyst. I thought it was absurd seeing as he hasn't fully mastered the process of having to use that ability. Only did I ever see him use it against animals.
What was bumming about it was I couldn't even use my own catalyst at all. I could manipulate another catalyst and use it for the time being to avoid being detected, but my parents said it wasn't worth the time to do so, considering how I had to hide my real aura and catalyst at the same time while actively using the catalyst I copied. That meant the possibility of putting a great strain on my body for a short period of time could be dangerous.I sensed an aura coming up the stairs to the rooftop. I hushed Ambrose and tried to feel the aura of whoever it was walking up the stairs. They had a very strong aura - possibly an elite or a higher up and had a catalyst that was related to pyromancy. I felt them nearing the door so I ushered Ambrose to another spot and hid just in time. I tried peeking at whoever was now on the same rooftop as us but they had their back faced towards my direction. However, I could shape how decently built they were from their stance and structure. He wore the same school uniform as the male students wore. He also seemed to have ash-blonde streaks on their hair. I observed a little more and watched as he sat in the corner of the rooftop, taking his headphones out and wearing them. It appeared that this was his usual spot during lunch, away from other people - which was greatly understandable.
I figured that since we weren't in his line of sight, as well as the probability that he couldn't hear us, "Let's run for it," I whispered to Ambrose. He nodded and we started moving slowly. Unfortunately, I sensed another aura - three to be exact, making their way up the stairs. I pulled Ambrose to stop and felt their auras be familiar.
"It's the trio from earlier," I whispered. He sighed in frustration and felt him power up his catalyst once more. I put a hand on his shoulder and shook my head. The door busted open with force and the trio was now on the same rooftop as us. "Well well well," The boy with electricity said."I thought we established to the student council that this was our area?" he added.
I glanced as the pyro-kid was unphased and ignored the three. "Probably another one of those new students Ajax," the kid with wind manipulation said.
"What is it with this school accepting new students this semester?" Ajax (who I assumed was the boy with an electric catalyst) said."I thought your dad wasn't going to allow new students Darrion," the boy with speed as a catalyst said towards the other with wind manipulation.
"That's what I thought too! Don't go blaming this on me, Kieran," Darrion retaliated to Kieran. What is up with these names? Doesn't match with their catalysts at all, I thought to myself."Well anyway, who is this punk on our lunch spot?" Ajax said intercepting in front of Darrion and Kieran. The pyro kid was still unbothered and remained laidback on his spot.
"What'd ya say we rough him a bit Ajax?" Darrion said, brushing off imaginary dust off his shoulder. Ajax scoffed, "Hey dumbass," he shouted, trying to get the kid's attention. The pyro boy finally opened his eyes but it was filled with boredom and displeasure. His aura was indifferent but was still strong. He could easily outplay these three, that is if he was up for a fight or he was a pacifist at heart.
"What's your name?" Ajax said, in a confident tone.
The pyro kid looked at him with nothing but a blank expression and I could feel the awkwardness between them from the silence. "Hey, Ajax asked a question therefore you talk!" Darrion said, clenching his fists. Ajax stopped him and walked closer to the pyro kid. But as he was about to close their distance, he was suddenly pushed back by something. Force field. I thought."What the hell?"
"What kind of p*ssy are you to conjure a force field?" Ajax scoffed. From its impact, I could tell it was no ordinary force field. It had a relatively strong feel to it that it could have been enforced to help the pyro-kid's abilities. I continued observing the scene in front of us and I could sense the trio's annoyance towards the pyro-kid. He simply yawned at the boys and went back to his own world and I think that was the trigger for the trio's aura to feel different for me.
