jihoon and chan kneeled, praying.

they had buried their mother as soon as the hashira, wonwoo, had left. they had also placed their other brother, seokmin, inside their house for him to rest comfortably.

oh and the crow was still on chan's shoulder.

to be honest, everything was just going too fast. neither of them had expected all of this to happen at all, everything was fine, until that incident last night.

as soon as jihoon finished his prayers, he opened his eyes to look at chan. "are you...done?" he asks quietly. chan looked like he wanted to speak but decided against it. he nodded instead. confused, jihoon places his forehand on his forehead. "is your throat alright, chan? are you sick?"

chan shakes his head, no.

jihoon frowned, "then why aren't you answering?" he became worried.

luckily, they knew sign-language. chan gave him gestures saying that, 'i don't want to hurt you.'

jihoon looked at him in disbelief, "what? chan, you won't—" he tried to get near his brother, chan immediately backed away, shaking his head quickly, eyebrows furrowed. 'i won't risk it, i won't forgive myself if i ever hurt you, or min, or anybody.'

jihoon was about to refute but suddenly remembered something the hashira had said.

"—it's now or never. either i end him right now, nice and quick or i could let him perish slow and painfully from the sunlight?"

sunlight.

he glanced at his now—demon—brother and at the sky. his eyes widened, the sun is rising. he needs to hide his brother in a shady place or else he'll burn.

"chan! let's go back inside for now, come on!" he runs inside, chan was confused but he obeyed.

seokmin slowly opened his eyes, being blinded by the sunlight, he immediately closed it again.

he sat up slowly, looking around. he noticed he was back in his bed, and started dozing off. then, he suddenly remembered—

he got off his bed, almost tripping in the process and bolted out of his room, yelling. "CHAN! JIHOON HYUNG!"

he was starting to get anxious, he remembers all of the sequence of events that had happened before he got knocked out.

he reached the living room, only to be glared at by his oldest brother, jihoon. he ignored the glare and threw himself on the smaller male. "HYUNG! I-I'M GLAD YOU'RE—" he got cut off by a hand clamped over his mouth, silencing him. he furrowed his eyebrows and tilted his head in confusion, "i'm glad you're awake but shhh! chan is sleeping!" he hissed.

seokmin glanced around the living room and there his youngest brother was, sleeping on the mattress.

poor boy must've been drained out from the whole transformation, and the thirst for blood must've made him weak.

seokmin noticed the hand on his mouth slid down, his brother's head laying on his chest. "se-seok..what should we do?" he hears him sniffling.

"he's always been a good kid, wh-why must it be him? it hurts me to see him like th-this, seok. he's still our b-brother right? he's still our channie...even if he's t-turned into a de-demon."

seokmin hugged his brother, playing with his hair in order to comfort him. "don't worry, hyung. he's still our channie, no matter what he turns into."

jihoon lifted his head to give him a weird look, seokmin cleared his throat, letting his gaze fall off somewhere rather that meeting his eyes. "that...sounded better in my head." he admitted.
