"I've heard from some very reliable resources that Batman was waiting outside your room last night," Dinah shot me a teasing smile as we walked to the cafeteria. "But that's what comrades are for, aren't they?" I replied, trying to stay composed. "Comrades? No! I like the sound of lover though," she said, grinning at me as she playfully wriggled her finger in my face. I slapped her finger away and took a sandwich off the breakfast tray.
Dinah followed behind me with her tray, which held a carton of orange juice and an apple. "Trying to get rid of those few pounds? Canary, you really don't have to torture yourself like that, would you like me to get you a chocolate bar?" I asked. "Nope, oh here comes Barry," she stated.
"Flashieeee!!" A high-pitched voice filled the cafeteria and everyone turned to look at a young woman who was strutting towards Flash. She had blonde bouncy curls of hair, her lips were coloured a light pink and her make up was a little exaggerated. "I missed you so much, darling," she purred, pulling him into a hug. He looked uncomfortable as he carefully pried her off him.
She seems unfamiliar. "Who is she, Dinah?" I asked. As if on cue, the blonde's gaze landed on me, and her eyebrows furrowed in confusion and she whispered something to Barry.
She shot me a fierce glare but I certainly wasn't affected by it. In fact, I held my chin up high and paid no attention to her.
After breakfast, I walked briskly to the training centre, where there were a range of facilities to suit to our different types of superpowers. I entered a medium-sized glass room where there was a robot positioned at the side. I programmed the robot to start and I hit the crap out of it. Yes, definitely stress relieving.
I grabbed a fresh, warm towel out of the heater and proceeded to my room. After a refreshing shower, I went to the headquarters to see if my help was needed. I saw a handsome young man with blonde hair and a crown placed on his head. Wait.. wasn't that crown belonging to the royal family of Atlantis? Then that must be the one and only... Arthur Curry.
As if on cue, Arthur's gaze landed on me and the corners of his lips curved upwards into a warm smile. "Now this must be the ever famous Wonder Woman, I see," he said. Batman, who was standing right next to him, kept an expressionless face. Arthur placed a light kiss on the top of my hand, his eyes on me the entire time.
I did feel a little uncomfortable, but I didn't want to be rude so I gave him a polite smile. "Is there anything going on, Bruce? Maybe a mission I could join in?" I questioned. "There's trouble in Gotham, Joker strikes once again," he informed me. "I see, when is the League going to take action?"
"Immediately, he's causing some pretty big trouble," "I want to help," "If you insist," "wait, I think I may want to go on this one too," Arthur's voice rang out. I saw Batman's jaw tighten but he still teleported both of us to Gotham anyway.
I could hear Joker's evil laugh ringing in the background of the wailing of police sirens. I tried to fly after Joker but he was a tricky one. He threw three pink balls at me which exploded in the air, making it too hazy for me to see clearly. I coughed. Suddenly, my ears perked up when I heard something cut through the air and it seemed as if it was...flying towards me. I managed to dodge whatever was coming towards me. As the smoke cleared up, I was shocked to see Ares, the war god. My hand flew to my mouth as I gasped. "Hera! What are you doing here?"
"I came to destroy you, my dear, you've been nothing but trouble, an interference in whatever I do, I decided it was about time to finish you off," he came dashing towards me with his mighty big sword. I blocked his hits with my arm cuffs, but the force of his hits were great, and my feet couldn't help but drag backwards.
Although I had mighty strength, I soon got tired. I wasn't able to land any blows on Ares and it was difficult to block his attacks. Helpless, I dropped to the floor. I breathed heavily. Aquaman was busy fighting off Joker. He had no time for me. I watched as Ares drew his sword back and my eyes were shut as his sword came swooshing down. But the blow never came. I opened my eyes. "No!" I shouted. Aquaman was standing protectively in front of me, shielding me. Ares' sword pierced through his body. He dropped to the floor but pulled the sword out of his body. Ares disappeared into the air.
"Arthur!" I shouted into my earpiece,"J'onn! Get us back to headquarters right away! Aquaman's hurt," Immediately we were teleported back. He was sent to the emergency room. Oh god.. this was all my fault.. I caused all of this... "Diana?" Batman called out. "Are you okay?" I shook my head, my body rocking back and forth with my arms wrapped around my legs. "Batman.. I'm scared that Arthur will die... and if he does, it's all because of me, because I was selfish! Because I was so stupid!" I cried.
Suddenly, I felt large, muscular arms wrap around me. "It's okay, Diana, Arthur will be fine, he does heal faster than ordinary humans anyway," I placed my chin on his shoulder, silently sobbing. No. I can't cry. I'll stay strong. For Arthur.
