"The ones that love us, never really leave us."

Hermione was afraid.

Hermione had been afraid very rarely in her life and the very fact that she feared for her life scared her even more.

What with Harry hearing disembodied voices in the castle and students being petrified, her mind had no room for anything but the Chamber of Secrets.

She was determined to find something on the Chamber because all the teachers refused to tell them anything and Hermione had a streak of curiosity that defied everything.

So here she was in the library again, hunching over thick, yellowing pages of long forgotten myths and yet, even after hours of sitting here, she had not been able to find a single word on the Chamber.

How was this even possible?

The library was supposed to be the answer to everything. This was a violation of rights for Merlin's sake.

If only she could complain to some authority about the lack of information presented by the library but somehow, she didn't think Professor McGonagall would take it kindly if Hermione demanded that the library be updated.

She sighed. A clock rang eight times from somewhere and she knew the library would be closing soon.

Madam Pince would be throwing her out any second.

Hermione looked around at the pile of books surrounding her. Surely, Madam Pince wouldn't notice if she just took a nap for a few minutes, would she?

No one would see her behind the tottering columns of books.

So she shut her eyes and settled down cosily in the armchair.

Someone spoke.

Hermione jerked awake and the first thing she noticed was that her surroundings were pitch black.

Her heart gave a frightened jolt at the impenetrable darkness and she felt around for her wand.

To her luck, she found it almost immediately.

Holding it up in front of her, Hermione opened her mouth to light her wand but she hesitated, her heart pounding in her mouth.

What if it was the monster? What if it was something horrible?

She shut her eyes fearfully and whispered, "Lumos."

Her wand tip ignited but Hermione did not open her eyes. She did not want to see the thing that would attack her.

"Granger." Said an all-too familiar voice.

Hermione's eyes flew open to see Draco Malfoy.

"You!" Said Hermione, too surprised to say anything else.

Malfoy raised his pale eyebrows. "Yes, Granger, me."

"What are you doing here?" She asked suspiciously.

Malfoy rolled his eyes. "What does it look like? I'm locked in just as you are."

It was then that Hermione remembered that she was still in the library.

"Oh!" She shot out of her chair. "Oh no no no. Now how will I get back? Madam Pince must've locked the entrance. This cannot be happening. This can't."
