I walked onto Platform Nine and Three-Quarters with my trunk and hand luggage on the cart in front of me. My cat, (cat name), was slinking through my legs and I could feel their soft fur brushing against the exposed skin where my pant legs ended. My parents, (m/n) and (d/n) (y/l/n), stepped onto the platform through the wall just after I did. They had their heads held high and gleaming smiles on their faces. They were so proud when I got the acceptance letter from hogwarts.
*flashback*
3rd pov:
"Mum! dad! there's a letter addressed to me!!" (y/n) cried, running down the hall with glee. The living room door banged open as she slid into the room, the letter flying in her hand. She plopped down on the couch and shoved the small piece of paper in their faces. Her dad looked at her mum with a questioning look, and she looked back and shrugged.
"Open it, sweetie. Let's see what's inside!" At her mom's words, (y/n) tore open the letter, ignoring the deep purple wax seal on the back.
When she saw the contents of the letter she gasped. "Mum I got accepted to a school for witches and wizards!"
Her mum shot her dad a look, and he raised his hands slightly, as if in surrender. (y/n) was dancing about the room giddily, missing the mini-conversation her parents had.
"Very good (y/n)! we're so proud!" Her mum gushed, "are there any supplies you need for the year?"
(y/n) quickly scanned the list, it ranged from normal things like quills and paper, to stranger things like dragonhide gloves and-
"A wand!" Her parents looked up startled by the sudden outburst. "I need a real, life wand!" Her parents shared another look, and this time she took notice. "Are you guys unhappy that I've got into a magical school for witches and wizards?"
Her dad looked at her mum, and she just shook her head and nudged his leg. He heaved a big sigh and turned to face little (y/n).
"(y/n)," he started, looking unsure, "There's something I've- we've- been keeping from you for a very long time, too long I should think."
(y/n) stared at him with confusion in her big, (e/c) eyes. "What are you guys on about?" she asked, worry etching in her features.
Her mother sighed, and looked at her daughter. "(y/n), your father here is a wizard. and he-"
She was cut off by (y/n) jumping up and yelling "What!?" She looked from her mother to her father and back to her mother again. Then she looked back at her father. She wasn't sure what to feel. Hurt, because her parents hid this from her for so long? Happy, because she didn't have to go into this new experience alone? Confused, because how could her dad be a wizard? She decided to voice the last of her ponderings.
"But dad, how can you be a wizard? I've never seen you use magic, you've never talked about your school years, and we live in a neighbourhood full of, erm, not-witches?"
Her father laughed. "Non-magic people, or not-witches as you called them, are called muggles. And I believe I owe you an explanation." (y/n) nodded fiercely. "Alright. when I graduated from Hogwarts, the wizarding war had just started. I deemed the world to dangerous for me, and I decided to remove myself. I moved to a muggle town and that's where I met your mother. When we finally got close enough, I told her I was a wizard. Then she told me we were having a baby. That's you, (y/n). We decided that the magical world of my youth was too dangerous for a child, so we opted to lead a muggle life. We were gonna tell you this year, but the Hogwarts letters go out much sooner than I remember." ^e chuckled and scratched his neck.
(y/n) turned to face her mum. "You're not a witch though?" Her mother shook her head.
"Nope I'm just a boring old muggle." Her father gasped.
"You are not a boring old muggle!" He exclaimed, appalled, "you are my beautiful wife, and the mother of our beautiful child." He kissed his wife. Little (y/n) squealed and covered her eyes.
*flashback over*
I breathed in the dewy train station air. It smelled of smoke, chocolate, and magic. This was incredible. My dad beckoned me over to where he was standing with a tall man, a kindly looking woman and 3 children, the older 2 of them quite hyper and the smallest was very reserved. I noticed, with surprise, that every person in that group, save for my mum and dad, was a flaming ginger.
I dawdled over to where they were all waiting to board the train, (c/n)'s feet padding the ground softly behind me. My dad smiled and introduced me to the family. The man was Mr. Arthur Weasley, a work associate of my father. That's another thing I learned. My father doesn't actually work at a muggle law firm, like I previously believed. He works at a place called the Ministry of Magic, which is like the wizarding world government.
The woman was Mrs. Molly Weasley, and she gave me the biggest hug I've ever received. "Oh my you must be (y/n)! Your father here is always talking to Arthur about you! (y/n) this and (y/n) that! It's so wonderful to finally meet you. And you must be going into 1st year! Charlie here, come say hello Charlie," she beckoned her son over, "is going into his first year at Hogwarts as well!"
Charlie awkwardly waved hello to me, avoiding looking at my face. "You must be (y/n) then?" I nodded, and stuck my hand out to shake, then realized that's probably weird so I grabbed it back in.
"Yep that's me." I said with a small laugh. We fell into an awkward silence. He brushed his feet on the ground. I scratched my neck. He pursed his lips and looked to his left. I swung my hands forward and backward. He sighed and pretended to fix his shirt.
"So how was your su-" Charlie began, but I cut him off by looking at my watch and jumping.
"It's 10:55! The train will leave without us!" I cried, grabbing my cart and scooping my squealing cat under my arm. Mrs. Weasley turned to her kids, kissed the oldest one on the cheek as he tried to get away, hugged Charlie, and grabbed the youngest one by the hand. My dad ushered me and the two boys to the train and hugged me good bye.
My mum came and joined us next to the train she kissed my cheek, fixed my collar, and bade me goodbye. "Do well, and try to stay out of trouble."
I giggled. "Sure mum, I'll try." And with those words I hopped onto the train with (c/n) and my hand luggage, ready for whatever awaited me.
