I had found comfort in his eyes. Yes, his eyes. And no matter how weird that sounded; they assured me of good, assured me of happiness, assured me of life and assured me of faith. My faith started to reconstruct in people because of his eyes; his soft, warm and understanding eyes. Life came back to routine slowly as I spent time with him. He urged me to reconnect with my friends and family. And I did; He coaxed me to open up to them and I did. I did all that because his eyes looked at me with the love he had professed for me; the love that prompted me to live my life to the fullest.
Ryan loved me since junior school but he never thought I would want to be with him. He thinks had he known he would have proposed me then only but I do not agree. No matter what, I like the way we met. After all, he really is my knight in a shining armour, no matter how cheesy that sounds. Ryan has an undying love for the beach which is affirmed by his incredible tanned body and just because of that love, we currently are walking down the beach holding hands as I watched our entwined hands carefully; thinking how cheesy I have become, unlike the philosophical Sarah I had been for the past year. I stopped walking as I realized I like being cheesy and crazy and I felt a smile play across my lips. My abrupt stopping had caused Ryan to turn towards me with a questioning look.
"I love you too." I said to him as I looked into his eyes because after all his love is the source of all my cheesy, romantic thoughts. He flashed a beautiful smile at me and said,
"I already knew that."making me laugh at his simple yet true statement.
"You never proposed me." I protested as I pouted my lips.
"I thought we weren't doing it the cliché way." Ryan replied as he pecked my pout away with a short kiss making me feel small tingles in my stomach. Tingles that are very cheesy but very real, tingles that I never felt even when my first boyfriend used to kiss me.
"Really? Aren't you the guy who was hopelessly in love with me?" I teased him, as I tried to hide the blush that I was sure was appearing' Ryan's kissed did do that to me. Well, he can make a blush appear on my face by even holding my hand.
"That I was." Ryan replied with a short laugh pulling me towards himself as I inhaled his musky scent.
"Okay wait here for a second and close your eyes." He suddenly said, excitedly.
"What?"
"Just do what I say, Sarah please."
I stood there and close my eyes, anxiously waiting for his surprise. He has a habit of surprising me. Sometimes with a chocolate kept in my locker, sometimes with a newly released book I am dying to read and sometimes by just looking at me with those eyes making me realize I have been blessed in the most amazing way.
"Open your eyes." Ryan's husky voice caused me to open my eyes only to see him down on one knee and it made me smile.
"What are you doing?" I asked as I slightly laughed as butterflies did Zumba inside my stomach. Only this guy with a handsome face, light brown hairs and eyes I deeply love can make that happen.
"I am proposing you. Sarah, I have been in love with you since always. And now that you love me too I want to ask you, will you be mine forever?"
I felt tears burn the back of my eyes as I looked down at the most handsome guy in school asking me to be his forever, it felt so unreal yet real. It was then I noticed what he held in his hand and I laughed.
"You're proposing me with a shell?"
"Yes I am" he said with a laugh, "But there is logic behind it.", he further added.
"And what is that?" I asked as I laughed knowing he would beat me with a logical reasoning as always. Despite the fact that he is supposed to me dumb like most football players, he is not. Thank God, he is not.
"This shell reminds me of you. I saw it like I saw you, alone. But both of you were fighting the waves that were hell bent to sweep you away."
And with those words I knew Ryan had me, forever. I let the tears fall and as Ryan stood up, I pulled him to myself and kissed him pouring all my love into that one kiss. His soft lips rubbed against mine causing me to feel those patent tingles in my stomach. He kissed me softly, delicately until I parted my lips. His tongue then swept inside and the kiss got hot making me breathless. After a long kiss as we pulled apart, Ryan looked into my eyes and said:
"I love you. I love everything about you. The way you quarrel with me on petty things, and then the way you smile when you win. I love the way you shriek when I drive too fast and the way you always sleep in the car like a baby. I love the way you always have to take a bite of my food and the way you twitch your nose to tell me you don't like it, even when you do. I love the way you are lost in a book and the way you laugh on silly jokes. I love how you can talk to anyone and make their day, even the janitor at school. I love you a lot. And after you I can never, ever love because you will be the death of me. And I still love you, a lot."
