It was 10 o'clock in the evening when I decided to go to mom's room to talk to her.

Hindi ko alam kung kinakabahan ba ako or what sa magiging reaksyon ni mom kapag sinabi kong may manliligaw na ako.

She has been asking me about having a boyfriend for a long time pero palagi akong nagsasabi na wala akong oras para do‘n kaya sigurado ako na magugulat siya.

I knocked on her room before opening the door. I found her lying on the bed, reading a book. She smiled when she saw me and opened her arms to welcome me with a hug.

We stayed in that situation until she broke the silence.

"So, who's the lucky boy?" she asked.

I blushed. "Uhm, he's name is Castiel."

"Boyfriend?" she laughed a bit.

"Omygosh! No, no, mom! Suitor, my," I answered.

She smiled and combed my hair with her hand.

"But, I'm afraid, my," I confessed.

"Bakit naman, honey."

"H-he's a basketball player, my," sabi ko.

"Ano naman ang problema do‘n?" tanong niya.

"Natatakot ako, my, baka katulad lang siya ni d-dad. Natatakot ako na masaktan. Hindi ko yata kaya ‘yon. I'm not as strong as you."

"Baby pa nga talaga kita." Hinawakan niya ang pisnge ko. "Your dad and Castiel are different. Not because iniwan tayo ng dad mo because of his career, eh, automatic na gagawin din ‘yon sa ‘yo ni Castiel. Huwag kang matakot masaktan dahil makakatulong ‘yon sa ‘yo para maging strong person. Don't lock yourself in your past. You need to move forward for your own peace of mind. You need to move on and throw away all the bad memories from the past," paliwanag ni mom.

My chest felt lighter because of mom's words.

"I love you, my."

"Aww. I love you more, sweetie. But I want to meet your manliligaw, ha?" Bigla akong napabangon dahil sa sinabi ni mom.

"Seryoso ka, my?" gulat na tanong ko.

"Uhuh." Ngumisi siya sa akin. "Papuntahin mo siya dito bukas ng tanghali."
