Demi's burgundy dress flowed in the wind and she hovered just beneath the clouds, her phone to her ear, and fire jetting out of her bare heels, "Kal, whatcha got for me, bud?"
"Nothing down here, the south and east is all pretty quiet except for today's protest and a few small time criminals that I reported," Kal yawned through the phone.
Demi looked down at the city below, she watched as cars that looked like colorful specks made their way through the streets. About a football field's distance from her, an airliner noisily passed by, she watched it for a while before turning her sights back to the city below. In a flash of flame, Demi rocketed down to the city when she saw two cars collide, and a couple more swerve out of the way only to crash into walls and poles.
She spun herself upright and landed gently with a small burst of flames that shot from the center of her feet, "How bout you, Val?"
Demi pried open the door of a blue sedan and took count of how many people were inside as she sensed a great heat radiating from beneath the hood. She quickly tore off the back door, unbundled two seat belts, and pulled out two young, dark haired children.
"Come on, little ones," she hoisted the two onto her shoulders and quickly carried them away to opposite side of the road where there was considerably less damage.
She then zipped back to the sedan and pulled out the driver, a woman with black hair who could easily be recognized as the mother. The woman wasn't unconscious, but she was clearly dazed and on the verge of going to sleep. She dragged the woman to the sidewalk and sat her down next to her children, before flying to the car the mother had crashed into, a wide red truck. Inside was a lone passenger, she tore open the door as Val finally spoke.
"All's clear in the north and west, though it sounds pretty busy wherever you're at."
"Nah, just a massive wreck, I'm already almost done here."
"That's not something you should act casually about."
Demi held back a laugh and stepped over to the sedan, which had picked up in heat. Fire was seeping from the gaps in the hood.
"Iikshem!" She shouted, "Let's turn up the heat!"
Her demonic runes took form on her body as she punched her hands through the hood, ignoring the burning pain as the fire seemed her arms, and began charging flames in her feet. She grabbed the most secure part she could and shouted to the crowd that she just noticed had gathered around.
"Everyone! Give me some room!"
The crowd backed away as Demi launched up, blue flames scorching the concrete beneath her as she carried the car with her. The car dragged, burned, and tore at her arms as she continued higher above the skyline. She didn't have much time left, she could feel the pressure building. She then stopped her ascent and the car continued upward, slashing her arms open as it dislodged itself and flew up above her. As the car began its descent, she raised her hand and released a continual wide spray of black flames that melted away the car as it touched the dark fire. Even the molten waste and gas were evaporated by her magic. A small orange rune began to form on her hand, her crest was awakening.
Sorry environment, I gotta save people first.
"Thal, report," she said as she made her way back down and landed next to the truck.
Cheers were surrounding her as she pulled the door open and dragged the man next to the family. She smiled at the children as she placed a hand on each of their foreheads and sent healing magic into them. She then scooted over to their mother and healed her.
"Nothing, except that car wreck you're handling," he suddenly reported from behind her, "I'll get to helping the ones who swerved and crashed."
"Thanks."
